Specialises in the more classical music style - e.g piano's, concert bands, orchestras, theory books. I had a bad experience buying a duplicate book, and the next day when I arrived with receipt and two copies in unused condition, the store refused to let me swap it. It was their right - however, I've received far better service elsewhere in town. I've received better prices on same products elsewhere as well. Not overly impressed with the musical ability of some staff either. Note they moved store location to Albert St, near Broadway Ave, July 2016.

I recently rang up Beggs to ask if they had a laney busking amp in stock for me to try. The employee (whom I have dealt with before on several occasions and is wonderful) said they didn;t but he would get one in for me to try. btw, this item was displayed on page one of the catalouge. He would ring me when it arrived Priced at around $260. I hadn;t heard from them by the end of the week so I dropped in on the Friday about 4.30. I was introduced to the owner who asked me if I intended to buy the amp. I said there was a good chance but I would like to try it first. He started to (what I would call rant) even taking me outside on the footpath saying he couldn't afford to get things in on the offchance that someone would buy it. I said I was a loyal customer ( until now) and not some kid who walks in a trys everything but buys nothing. He refused to get one in and told me to buy it online. I have since bought two. One for a mate from the lovely shop in Porirua where they were more than happy for me to try before I buy. I will never set foot in Beggs Palmerston North again. I feel disgusted at the way I was treated by the owner (I must stress the employee was wonder ful and I rang and apologised if he was put in a difficult position) I am a person of middle age and not some impecunious youth. That's however how I was treated. I can't stress enough how upset I was to be marched outside and given a lecture on his lack of finances. All i can say is that if you can't afford to get in a $260 amp on trial, you are in the wrong business buddy.
