Beenleigh Historical Village & Museum is a place of important, 'hands-on' historical sights, times, and events. It has educational value, and 'crosses many boundaries ' of the Colonial and Early Settler Pioneer lives of the times.

Story

The Beenleigh Historical Village hosts group bookings for numbers from as small as 10 to as large as 150 visitors.

Our friendly, and well- informed Volunteers lead groups on a journey through the historic buildings , allowing you to be a part of activities such as old-fashioned washing, blacksmithing & woodcutting and lessons in our authentic late 1800s school complete with slates , and the oldest 3D glasses in the world!

* The Village is constantly being maintained, to the highest level, with new experiences being implemented , to further enhance the knowledge of those times of Early Settlement in the area, and its inhabitants .

History at a local level but not open on the boxing day.

VILLAGE
Lovely old houses with historic pieces of that era/time inside each building. Gives you an insight into their lives.

SOME NEGLECT
You can see there has been some work on most buildings except the old dairy and a resident's former cottage has a lot of junk stored. A general clean up of those sites would not detract from the obvious hard work already completed.

Beautiful snapshot in time.

Very friendly staff with lots of volunteers eager to assist. Loads of history and heritage in just one place. They have specific Sunday program wherein they dress up and look like the people from the past. Exhibits on display are a state of the art pieces acquired directly from their owners. School visits have special programs on how fire fighters worked in those days with a special demo. Overall those interested in going back in history must visit.

Some old buildings and equipment to look at. It would be nice if there were guided tours to tell especially younger people and foreigners what all the equipment and items in the houses were used for back in the day. The gallery had some nice pictures in it, some of which were worth looking at.

Its been many years since going through an old heritage town. It was great seeing all the old things that brought back memories from my childhood. My grandparents house. Our family home.

Particularly enjoyed the Spirit of the Red Sand show highlighting the impact the arrival of the British had on the Aboriginal people.
