One of my favourite Mexican restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is pretty good. Your experience will really vary depending on what you get. Personal recommendations are the fish tacos - I have not met anyone that doesn't like them. The bowls are also quite nice - 8/10.
Food was great and good value, cocktails great, nice atmosphere - however it was closing early on a sat night - like 8.30pm. So many people wanted to come in to eat or drink as well. They did at least another 2 tables at 5 minutes to closing. Given it's at Glenelg, really wouldn't hurt to stay open later on a sat night even if it is winter. Staff were ok but I felt we were interrupting them going home
Went for a quiz night in the upstairs restaurant. Nice atmosphere and fun decor. Seats are tall and metal, so not particularly comfy. I like that you can order and pay on the app / via the QR code scanner at your table. Very convenient and the menu has pictures of the food. Good selection of Mexican food. Very fresh tasting too, not like the texmex style in the US. We had tacos, nachos and a quesadilla. All well seasoned and tasty, but the tacos are quite small, so you'll have to order a few for a meal - maybe 3 or 4 at least. Service was a little slow but very friendly. Overall a nice place to hang out and pretty good food.
Went here for lunch yesterday. The virgin mojito was great, as were the chips. The mains were a bit lacklustre & the overall atmosphere wasn’t great. The chairs / tables were really sticky too. We also tried originally ordering on the phone as directed and after placing our order we got a notification saying it failed? Had to go to the bar to sort it where other people were gathered, looking they were having the same issue too. When I went to order, the waitress wasn’t the friendliest and said that they’ve been having issues all day. It would have been nice if she mentioned this before we were sat down at a table, as this would have influenced us ordering in the first place or not. Wouldn’t be back after the customer experience and average food but at least we knocked it off our list on places to try I guess.
Jalapeño poppers were good but HOT. I mean that’s what you want, right? Haha. Fish tacos were not bad but my standards are very high for these cute little beachy shack. Good location on the strip near the beach.
So good!!!! We walked in off the street on a whim, so glad we did. The food was so fresh and delicious even if I did bite off more than I can chew Staff were friendly and service was quick and easy. Thoroughly recommend
Margaritas were awesome, had the fresh passionfruit and watermelon. We had lunch, everything was nice and fresh, food came out at a reasonable wait time and was nice and hot. Only negatives were the table tops were really sticky and the burrito we ordered came out wrapped in alfoil which was red hot.
Nice little spot with indoor & outdoor dining. Staff were lovely. We enjoyed the frozen margaritas and a few different tacos which are a must try if you love your mex.Food: 5/5
Birria tacos were great. Burrito bowl not - different temps throughout as if it had just been zapped in the microwave. Staff were awesome and very friendly. Table and highchair were dirty.
Beach Burrito Co has been in Glenelg for quite a while now,- and it’s usually quite busy . Wanted an early dinner before we headed off to the Fringe and felt like something light . The inside has lots of booths downstairs and a few high tables outside looking onto the street - haven’t been upstairs as yet . There’s strings of lights and huge overhead ceiling fans to try and recreate the atmosphere of a beach shack . I ordered the GF Karate chicken , which comes with a jalapeño sauce I asked for the chipotle sauce as jalapeño is a little hot for me and they readily obliged . The small tacos were half price maybe because it was happy hour and I ordered one of those as well - the beef barbacoa, which is the slowed cooked beef with salsa roja , onion and coriander. The chicken was nice and moist with an audible crunch to the coating , and the beef had a bit of kick - plenty of flavour for me . Unfortunately the accompanying coleslaw had no flavour - it let down the dish . My friend had the OG chicken with guacamole with she really enjoyed- she’s not into spices so it was fresh rather than hot. I had a Happy Hour Margarita - the slushie one , which was premixed and quite sweet , but not too bad . The tables were slightly sticky which was not good - but the staff were accommodating and casually friendly which matched the character of the place . Still trying to figure out whether the tacos were half price because it was Happy Hour - if so , I’ll come back and get some more .
