Received a letter warning me of a inactive account. Called customer service who said to bring you ID to any branch and they'd close it and give you the money. I went into this branch and the cashier was fairly polite but said "we've got an interesting case this morning" (just what I want to hear as a customer) and had to call the manager. Turns out Mum is the signatory on the account but I'm not...ok, why not tell me this over the phone instead of making me drive 30mins to my nearest branch and telling me. I specifically asked "is that all I need to do". It's only $225 & if I knew mum had to do it, I would have asked her in the first place to do so. Bank staff were ok, I understand it's likely bank policy. Upset at the incorrect info given to me and the resultant waste of time. Just puts a bad spin to my morning and makes me glad I've closed my other bank accounts with them. I should be able to have a form signed by my mother as signatory to simple transfer the funds over the phone. Instead of having to physically go into a bank branch (they closed our local one...) and explain the situation repeatedly to different staff. 1st telephone support then bank reception, then bank manager, now likely another bank manager....crazy inefficient.

Terrible customer service, cashiers are very rude. Went to open a savings account for our son, was told it takes 15 minutes and they were closing in 25 minutes so couldn't do it.
