Balter Bar is our favorite place to eat in the Wairarapa. Consistently delicious food, wonderful and friendly service, and very reasonably priced for the quality of what you get. Always look forward to coming back!!
A fantastic looking place with a great atmosphere, this place has all the right things going for it from a presentation aspect.nUnfortunately the food really does let them down, the pork ribs literally numbered at 3 ribs for +$40 and didn't taste great, the half chicken was really plain considering the sauce, pork belly had chewy skin and tasted boiled, w didn't even eat half of the starter, and finally the mac n cheese was from a packet. On the flip side the salads and chips were really great, excellent flavor.nI was really looking forward to a smoke house type meal which the menu and atmosphere sold me on, 2 stars because the food is what got me through the door but didn't deliver.
Was in Carterton area for a week and a half and was compelled to visit this amazing place on more than one occasionnThe smoked meats made it an absolute definite to at least try but after visiting the first time we were hooked to the flavour as well as the warmth the staff showed us. The brisket really did deliver and I also enjoyed breakfast there on more than 1 occasion. Shout out to the chefs that deliver the amazing tastes that this place prides itself onnnWas even able to find them at the local balloon glow fest that same week and got a chance to try them again….the stuff that comes out that smoker is to DIE for…nnThanks a lot we will definitely like to come back somedaynnCheers Balter Bar!
Stunning food, excellent staff.nnA real gem amongst the regular restaurants you find in the region.nnThe team at Balter are making food you will not be replicating at home, in a cosy and friendly environment.nnMake sure you take their recommendations on their signature dishes, flaming cheese does exactly what it says on the tin and the flavours are fantastic.nnIf you have a sweet tooth, this lot will see to it that you will never want to leave.nnThey cater for all food allergies, even whipped up a brand new dessert for me when they found their existing selection wouldn’t suit me.nnCannot recommend this place highly enough!
Under new ownership, def going back for date night. The gin cocktails were strong and interesting choices to pick from. Food and drink menu looks really interesting and there's alot to try. Service and atmosphere are excellent.nnDidn't quite get 5 stars as there were a few minor things I would have liked to see with the food before giving 5/5. Looking forward to my next visit!!!
