We had an hour to spare so we drove to Balmoral Beach and strolled along the water front and Pier. Enjoyed a take away coffee from one of the many cafes. Husband enjoyed an ice cream. Perfect spot for a picnic or to just stop and take a moment to breathe fresh air and unwind. 
People can hire hobby cats down one end of the beach. The Lower North Shore has little pockets of goodness 👌🏽👍🏽

This beach is lovely and is divided into segments.

One segment is beyond the pier, another beyond the small cemented overpass bridge.

Adequate washroom and toilet facilities, and a nice promenade and walkway along the beach.

One or two cafe type places which we didnt visit.

The sand is clean, the water is gentle being a deep inset cove and an important feature is the little island which has been connected by the small bridge.

Great place to swim, hang out with friends and family, or even have a picnic.

Great family beach  sand and green space available payed and unpaid parking available although unpaid is very hard to find unless you arrive early morning.  All cafes have great coffee.  Food is available either have in or take away please note it is a little pricey compared to the normal.

A small beach with beautiful houses and expensive yachts. Suitable for family . Calm waters for swim (enclosed swimming also), sailboats, picnic, football, rollerblade, bike, 🐕 walk, jog, yoga and meditation.
Catch a ferry at Circular Quay. Facilities for toilet, shower and changing rooms..

A nice family oriented beach. Due to its location there is no surf, which makes it a relatively safe place to swim. I have also found it refreshingly free of tourists whenever I've been. Parking can be an issue (but that is true for pretty much any Sydney beach). Plenty of coffee shops and cafes to choose from when lunch time arrives.
