A great place for takeaway desserts, cakes and savoury treats. The staff is very nice, they serve coffee as well. I highly recommend their signature dessert Apple Delight - it's the perfect combination of mousse, crunchy base and spiced apple! I also recommend getting there before 1pm if you are after the dessert, they do sell out fast!
It was my birthday the other day so I did Google “the best cake in Sydney“ and Banksia came up as one of the choices so I went to check it out. They had several cakes available and I got Dark chocolate ganache cake. It did survive bus ride home, it was tall with few chocolate layers, rich but not too sweet, just the way it should be. Also tried vegemite croissant that was nice, chocolate croissant was just ok and most interesting was Earl grey and caramel swirl. Also liked the ambiance, open kitchen so you can see how deserts are made, there are few tables to sit but it seems most of the people order take away as it is located in business district
Ok coffee, pretty decent croissants. They have some really interesting flavours and the croissants look visually appealing so bonus points for that. Taste is good but nothing out of this world. Would have liked to have tried the biscoff one but they had sold out.
One of the must go to place in your list when in Sydney. Minimalist design, lots of natural light, limited seating area and friendly & helpful service crew.Take away where you can enjoy in a common area near the fountain across the bakehouse. The layout of the cakes, pastries and tarts colors bring out the vibes in this bakehouse. #Sydney yours to explore
Lovely service, delicious premium priced pastries and cakes. The food look smaller than they are on the pictures online. I ordered a Cinnamon Swirl and Thai tea eclair. Both are great but I like the Thai tea eclair more - can taste a subtle hint of Thai tea and not punch-in-the-face sweet. I visited on Monday late morning. There were not many seating, and only 2 tables. Will come back to try their croissants.
Come here several times for great pastries. Egg and truffle danish was amazing even though it didn’t show up in the pictures. Recommend raspberry white chocolate cheesecake swirl more if you are struggling to pick between this one and Biscoff swirl. Biscoff one might be more greasy and thick. Cream brûlée tart and mushroom danish are worth to trying. While please run away from cinnamon bun and coffee. Cinnamon Bun is covered with sugar but sweetness takes away bun’s own flavor. And pistachio is unnecessary. AND coffee - you could say it is light toasted beans and go for it if you like sour flavor which I don’t haha. Service is just so so which is the reason of losing one star. Can’t compete with other pastry stores. Better to come in the morning. Only went there in the afternoon once and pastries tasted a little bit soggy at that time.
A great spot for pastries. With lots of options to choose from, such as sandwiches, cakes, and assorted baked goods, your cravings will definitely be satisfied. The Biscoff Cheesecake Croissant is light and flaky, with creamy filling inside. Definitely worth a try!
The biscoff swirl was definitely a must try from here! Got the sausage roll but wasn’t a huge fan as the fennel flavour was strong. The mushroom danish I felt like was the better option for savoury pastries from here. The flourless browny was more of a cake consistency and had a strong coffee taste which I personally don’t like.
biscoff cheesecake swirl croissant wheel : @banksiasydney : George St, Sydney : Joining in on the croissant wheel trend that the whole world has been raving about after Lafayette Bakery New York has gone rival for it. Banksia’s special this month was a Biscoff croissant wheel, so here we are! : Biscoff Cheesecake Swirl September Special is available in limited numbers only throughout the day. If you love a combination of tasty flakey pastry, cream cheese, vanilla mascarpone, salted caramel and biscoff biscuits, this is the pastry for you .
I would stick to their non savoury pastries and avoid their cakes. Pastries were 7.5/10 and nothing memorable. Skip on the cakes as their raspberry and meringue cake and tropical sponge cake was at most 6.5/10. While aesthetically stunning, they were dry and bland. I catfished by the photos.
