Our modern, quirky, clean and safe accommodation is served up with a friendly and relaxed vibe and is right in the heart of Melbourne CBD! Our building is right opposite Flinders St Station and has just undergone major renovations to be transformed into the best hostel in Melbourne! We offer travellers top class facilities and memorable experiences but keep our rates competitive! You even get FREE Wi-Fi but expect the staff to pester you if you spend too much time on it rather than exploring and socialising!

Hostel isn't clean and soap was never available in the bathroom/toilet when ever I used it. Be careful of your belongings cause people steal in this hostel. They stole my Apple headphones and they didn't want to take responsibility for it..they never took details of my lost property so they can contact me once they find it. Staffs aren't helpful but they rather spend their time talking to the travellers about their personal life. They hire travellers who lives there for the day to day cleaning jobs which is a good thing .They get free accommodation in return. However, they don't take this job very serious. Nothing look clean in the toilets, utensils in the kitchen, floors and rooms aren't cleaned properly. Location is good but lots of noise due to construction work going around from years. Overall worst experience. I rather pay more money in a decent hotel style hostel which is clean and the staffs are professional and responsible. Don't go there if you care about these things
Amazing hostel!!! Super lovely staff, very cool place and nice people! Rooms were always clean and well looked after. Also amazing bar downstairs! I stayed here for a month and thoroughly enjoyed my time : The only thing that wasn’t great was there is no freezer in the kitchen, so if you have frozen food you have to eat it straight away or it’ll go off. Also, there were mice and one got into my food bag! Had to throw my food away. Other than that, I would 100% recommend this hostel!
I stayed here with a group of friends we all had separate double ensuite rooms and wow United really exceeded all of my expectations. I have stayed in hostels all over the world including Melbourne and this was by far the best. It was modern, so, so clean, safe and such a good location our room even had a gorgeous view of Flinders Street Station. It worked out to be about 50 dollars for each of us for one night which is so cheap so I was expecting pretty much a bed in a dinky old room but what we got was worth a lot more than what we paid. I will be staying here again for sure!
Not the best hostel in Melbs, and not the worst. Very clean bathrooms and clean rooms which was nice, really hot showers for winter. Tiny kitchen which made me not want cook and just get take away. Staff were quite nice especially one girl from the Philippines. However they talked too much to other guests whilst checking in which distracts them and slows the check-in process. Also a homeless woman goes up and down the elevator all night, but I got used to that, bit strange at first though, lol.
United was great! I had to make three separate bookings as I had an overnight tour and a weekend away. The staff made it hassle-free to book after I emailed even though I could have done it online. Check-in and out is a breeze, and the luggage storage is very secure. The free pancake breakfast is pretty luxury as far as hostel breakfasts go, and the kitchen space is well thought out with a few sinks, a hot water dispenser and a sink especially to fill your bottle. Bathrooms were also clean, with white a few showers. I never waited for a shower. Didn't really check out the bar downstairs, but it seemed like a cool place. I had a room on the first floor couldn't hear anything from the bar. The ONLY thing is that the rooms can get flippin hot. It was only 30 degrees one of the days I was in Melbourne and it was an uncomfortable sleep. Can't imagine what it's like at +40. It was 21 my last night there and the room was still very stuffy.
This was my first stay in an hostel and I was actually scared but turns out it’s perfect. Everything is clean, the beds are so comfortable, and the rooms are quite big and luminous. You have your own private locker under the bed which is great. The staff is absolutely adorable and there’s so many activities organized for you to discover Melbourne and make friends. Kitchen, cinema room, walking tours... everything’s really great!
Spent two nights here. First in a 8person dorm. Very clean and comfy beds. The other guests were pretty cool too,although asleep most of the time. The communal toilets and showers were average but good for a backpackers. Second night in the private suite was great. Good size, nice furniture, really clean and just great value. The staff were excellent and the location is second to none. Well done. I'm totally coming back here.
Great staff, decent kitchen facilities, clean and spacious rooms. Great location. Fabulous people staying although more like uni lodging vibe then backpackers at the moment.
Excellent location on the edge of the CBD, right across from a major train station. Rooms were reasonably sized, although they were quite dim and smelled a bit odd. The bed frames were a bit flimsy as well, but came with a comforter and pillow, which were quite pleasant. Bar in the lower level is open to the public and a great place to meet people. Free daily walking tours of the city are also a fantastic way for newbies in the city to get their bearings. Didn't make my way to the kitchen, but dozens of restaurants are within a 2 minute walk, so it's the perfect spot to stay.
Lovely hostel in the center of town. Tram, trains, eateries are a stone's throw away from this place. Great staff. Clean dorms, washrooms, kitchen area. Loved the free pancakes for breakfast. Overall the great place to spend some nights if you are backpacking.
