The eggplant was the star dish... Hence why we didn't take a photo of it. The root chips were also pretty nice.
Great little Japanese place / bar here. Nice selection of beers and authentic food to match. Got a seat at the bar by walking in on a Saturday at 6pm easy. Otherwise was full. Wasabi salad and Gyoza were delicious. Had high hopes for the miso sword fish but was too sweet for the size of the serve.
A piece of Japanese heaven in the west you've got to come for the extensive selection of Japanese whisky and sake at reasonable prices. Can get quite busy on the weekends so Will need to book. But sitting at the bar is a good idea if you want to just try out the different whisky and snacks.
This cosy restaurant was a lot of fun. Tasty, bite-size dishes to share, lots of Japanese whisky and friendly/helpful staff. I would definitely go again.
I was quite excited to find a highly reviewed japanese restaurant/bar in yarraville and the extensive Umeshu and Whisky menu is what drew me. Service was ok. They didn't really go out of their way to assist you or make recommendations. Food: all sounds good on the menu but had strong doubts of the quality when my friend mentioned she saw the kitchen open a box of frozen gyoza that she's seen at coles. Overall everything we ordered was ok. Not really anything outstanding that would make me want to come back to this particular japanese venue. Price points: tapas size and prices i guess. Although $12 for 2 pieces of tofu is a bit more than what you'd normally pay for at other Japanese restaurants. For this price you would normally get at least 3 or 4. Tips: book in advance - place is cosy and tables were all filled by 6.30pm on a Friday night. Lucky my friend got there just in time to get us the last 2 seats at the bar. Reasons to return: it's local. The umeshu & japanese whisky collections and the panna cotta.
5 star service and food. It is Japanese tapas so be prepared to pay for it too! Cocktails were delightful recommend the plum fairy , margarita and espresso martini My partner is a vegetarian and found the food to be nothing but exceptional. The garlic and chilli edamame took an ordinary favorite transforming it to a an absolute must try. I recommend the karaage leeking, the vegetable bao, vegetable gyoza and beef tappenyaki. We tried all three desserts, the chocolate fondant was our favourite and the house icecream a close second. This was a great find, give it a go!!
Simple but delicious food. One of my fave places!
This place is a hidden Gem. Really well staffed. The food and drinks menu is bang on. Even the tunes are good. If there were 6 stars I’d have ticked them. Try the corn ribs.
A small, quaint Japanese cafe/restaurant in Seddon. There is a small amount of seating inside with further bench seats outside. The friendly staff warmly welcome us and present us with menus. The menu here is a fairly basic with classic Japanese rice and noodle dishes. I opted for the Gyu Don, and while it presented well, it was a little on the small size and the meat was a bit mushy in texture so was not too pleasant.
Bar like venue, friendly staff, good, tasty food.
