I'm writing to share feedback regarding my husband's recent neurosurgery appointment notification. While we appreciate the reminder, receiving it by message only an hour before the appointment was unexpected and made preparation challenging. Additionally, we didn't receive any prior information about the appointment. When trying to clarify by phone, we encountered rudeness from the operator, which was disheartening because the operator can not find my husband detail and directly cut the phone. Improving the notification process and ensuring respectful communication would greatly enhance the patient experience.
I'm a regular patient at the Austin and had 3 seperate admissions in via ED last year 2023 the most recent in mid December. Despite the unfortunate circumstances that led to my admission I cannot anything but positive things about the staff, both triage, emergency department and those who looked after me while I was on the ward. Even the last the time despite a long wait which is not the hospitals fault I was still treated both with respect and understanding by the staff. They also did the best to try and alleviate my anxiety as I hospitals trigger me and I suffer from the white coat syndrome.
Lengthy wait times on the phone, 1 hour and 20 minutes just to get through to somebody and then they speak to you in a disrespectful tone and an abrupt manner. We don't need you to take your frustrations out on us the patient. If you hate your job, walk away, there's plenty of takers who would gladly take your job and do it better than you can.
The man in the call centre is very abrupt and rude.nShould NOT be on the phones whatsoever.
My sister was admitted to the Austin hospital are falling and breaking 3 ribs. While in the Austin, staff lost her clothing. I was told to send an email with the details of the missing items and approximate value. After several weeks the Austin hospital confirmed that her clothing was lost and took absolutely no responsibility for losing them. I explained that my sister was a pensioner and had limited funds. They didn't care and refused to provide any compensation! How hard can it be to place someones clothing into a bag and label it with their name!
