What can I say, absolutely beautiful fresh fish and lovely and welcoming staff. The sashimi chef is incredibly skilled and the seafood was sensational. Definitely one of the best ... 5 stars
Never been here before but based on reviews was expecting something special for a lunch catchup with a friend. Owners /workers all seem nice but sadly the food was very poor. Oil was rancid and batter was like you get on a corndog. Thick and tough and ends up steaming the seafood inside. Chips were also poor. After $45 / head for lunch inc beer and salad I was expecting to be a lot happier. After this I went home and felt really gummed up and a bit ill not food poisoning but just too much rancid oil till the next day. I guess everyone has bad days but not sure how everything could be so poor for us as they were not very busy.
Just went to Argo to order our usual $50 plus spend here and the Lady tells me they are closed ! Oh what time do you close I ask … ? 8.30 pm but it’s only 8.30 now? Yes but we’re closed !!! You know I never see many in this shop and now I know why ….. they don’t need the business! Am I being unreasonable to expect a food service to be open until 9pm? In respose to the owners comment ... Let the reader will decide who is being rude here ... I guess it comes down to friendly staff and those who will go the extra mile and those who wont! Maybe my expectations were too high.. For the record, it was 8.31pm by the time I got back into my car!
Holy cow! I haven’t been this impressed by a local restaurant for a long time. The flake was lightly tempura battered, cooked perfectly, very meaty fish, not overly oily, very light and, finally! a fish and chip place that gives you a lemon wedge! These people obviously care about their food. Didn’t try the chips but the potato cakes were great too - super crunchy. Highly recommended.

Warm, cosy and inviting establishment with great service. The freshest fish, tastiest batter and those served whole grilled King prawns are amazing! A real favourite of ours, we look forward to going back each week!
I received a fresh and crispy home delivery of whiting today that was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The best possible comfort food for a chilly evening in isolation! Love the wide variety on offer too, I'll be back. Thanks Argo!
Really happy to leave a review for Argo fishop as it never ceases to disappoint. Always fresh, always delicious! Family friendly and great for events, birthday celebrations, etc. We love coming to Argo.
Server hyped up the tacos so that may have led to my disappointment. Friendly staff and quick service was otherwise great
Great fish seafood, in FitzroyNorth/Clifton Hill. Either to eat in or take home. good service too, specious outside area to eat with group or couple.
