Really nice stay in a great location. A stones throw to the beach. Reception staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. Kitchen was well equipped and relatively clean. Stayed in an 8 bed dorm which was very spacious and bright during the day. The room & bathroom was very clean and comfortable. There were quite a few small roaches in the room but that didn’t bother us. Definitely would recommend!
I booked to stay at Aquarius for just over a week as it was one of the cheaper options in Byron Bay. I’m so glad I did, the layout of the hostel is great, the kitchen and rooms are well maintained and kept clean. I loved that the hostel always had activities on that a lot of people would go to. They have morning yoga sessions for free that take place on the rooftop which I thoroughly enjoyed. Also, definitely recommend checking out Latin night when it’s on, the music was brilliant.nThe staff are friendly and helpful and the main guy who I think manages the hostel is helpful and makes sure everything is running smoothly without being at all imposing.nProbably the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Aus considering price, location and overall vibe! Genuinely sad I had to leave.
solid hostel with an unbeatable location right by the beach. en suite bathroom and balcony in the dorm really added to the experience. the restaurant next door is fantastic- esp the chicken caesar salad! minus one point however for being a hostel that makes you wear those paper wristbands.
Paid a little extra for a “private room” for our one night stay. The room itself is a side room to a main dorm, and had no air conditioning. The room was dirty, the beds were unmade on arrival and the mattresses were severely worn down. The door to our “private room” didn’t close due to the bed getting in the way and so noise was an issue all night. One shared bathroom amongst 10 people as reception and communal facilities also shut down at 9pm, at which point it turns into what is basically a run down Motel -Room toilets were also pretty sub-standard. Staff were good for the most part but no apology when we told them our beds were still dirty from previous occupants.nEntertainment facilities are good, with a pool table and table-tennis table and a nice pool area, so this was a plus.nnOverall, I appreciate you get what you pay for with a hostel but after staying at dozens of others up and down the east coast, this is comfortably the worst one I’ve stayed at. Would recommend steering clear if you can.
Staff are friendly and so helpful. Really great vibe around the place.nRooms and common areas are spotless.nnI left belongings behind in the reception and the Aquarius team, especially Sara were so helpful and actually organised postage down to Melbourne for me.nnThe prime spot to stay in Byron
