Mission

Animal Protection Society of WA (Inc) “APS” is a not for profit, pro-life volunteer run Cat & Dog Refuge. We are committed to rescuing Cats & Dogs who find themselves homeless.

We work with local pounds, other rescues and private surrenders. We do not discriminate, we take Cats and Dogs of all ages, breeds and those in need of medical attention.

APS are committed to providing the Cats & Dogs in our care a loving and safe environment until we can match them with the forever home most suited to their individual needs.

We commit that every animal in our care will be sterilised, microchipped, vaccinated & vet checked, to ensure their overall wellbeing and future safety.

APS actively encourage responsible pet ownership, by educating potential adopters about the responsibilities and costs of welcoming a Cat and/or Dog into their family.

Adopted our cat from here she’s lovely and all the staff were lovely too, very helpful and have happily taken their time to answer any questions we have had
Awesome place which is run by lovely and friendly volunteers. The cats have spacious and clean areas to roam around. APS also sell cat carriers, litter boxes and a few other items for pets.
I spent 5 years and 3 months volunteering with APSWA. I have never worked harder in my life being a Volunteer Shift Supervisor. When I needed help with my own dog I was declined. Yes I lost my temper for 3 seconds, I had to give up my dog, I was emotional. But apparently the person on the end is so thin skinned. I have been instructed not to contact anyone else at APSWA for help. Of course that was disregarded. No one should have the power to shut out people from helping someone. That person knows I am referring to them. The epitome of a Communal Narcissist.
Lots of beautiful rescue Cats & Dogs looking for their furever homes. In the Cat section the fur kids all live free range with a Pavillion & an old water tank providing shelter & shade from the elements. The Kitten shed provides roomy cages for the youngsters, with plenty of toys and stimulation. Staff are helpful and will provide advice to help find the perfect cat/kitten for your home.
Not only the staff is very committed and helpful but the whole setting is awesome. While there is a vet clinic and secure gates on site the atmosphere is far from cold and gloomy. Cats are free to socialize with other cats ,human guests and volunteers and they can have a walk or a nap as they please. If you consider a big shelter facility too emotionally distressing and gloomy this is the place to go
My 2 cats from here are just perfect. So many amazing animals and vollies here
They have done a amazing great job of taking care of my dog I would recommend this place to everyone
Dealing with APSWA has been a very distressing experience and I can't speak strongly enough against being involved with them. Most of the staff are friendly enough, but no information on the adoption process. Had to keep chasing them for weeks to get anywhere. Finally got to the point where we were told we would be able to adopt a beautiful dog we'd fallen in love with - subject to a home visit the following day, which was the earliest they could come. Then they rang an hour later to say they had changed their minds and the dog had been adopted. We were flabbergasted, but the worst was still to come! When we asked why, they told us it was because our kids weren't excited enough. And here we thought they were polite and respectful. One of our daughters is a shy cancer survivor, the other is completely deaf and doesn't do well in unfamiliar environments. And our teenage son is embarrassed by public displays of affection. So apparently these sweet, gorgeous girls aren't good enough to adopt a dog. There are lots of positive reviews here, but I recommend not taking a chance on having an experience like ours!
Went to shelter and saw a dog that had come in. Reading the profile we would be suitable owners.Told to come back in 10 days. In the meantime rang several times to see how he was going. Went to see him girl only took our name and number. I asked her how do you know if we are suitable, she pointed to her head. We were never offered to spend time with him. Go again yesterday and is with a family. Girl told us they do not ring you back anyway.Told to ring today to see if the family have taken him. Told today he is pending rehoming with this family. Not impressed how we were treated and definitely won't be dealing with them again. What more did we have to do.so so disappointed.
Great charity. Awesome and friendly team who work there, either volunteering or work placement. Gorgeous loving dogs and cats needing new homes! Have loved this charity from my childhood. Onto my 3rd pet chosen from this institution. They certainly won't be my last
