About

Youth Focus is a WA-based not-for-profit organisation aiming to put a stop to youth suicide and depression. Youth Focus is not a crisis service.

Story

At Youth Focus we recognise that everyone is unique and understanding where you fit into the world around you is part of being a young person. The counsellors will help you to understand the difficulties you are going through within the broader context of your life including family, friends, school and your local community – which can be your greatest supports – and help you to make changes so life is less of a struggle.

We provide our free services in a way that are “youth friendly”, flexible and recognise the individual need of the young person and their family.

Services are available from our offices located in Burswood, Joondalup, Fremantle, Rockingham, Mandurah, Bunbury, Collie, and Albany as well as our school and outreach programs.

Mission

Youth Focus is not a crisis service and this page is only monitored during business hours. If you or someone you know needs urgent support please contact the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467, the Kids Helpline on 1800 55 1800 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Our mission is:
• To prevent suicide and self-harming behaviors in young people.
• To provide a youth friendly community based support service.
• To offer early support and assistance to young people and their families.
• To promote the development of coping, interpersonal and psychosocial competencies in young people through counselling and training.
• To promote strong and caring relationships between young people, their families, peers and communities.
• To work in a coordinated and collaborative manner with other agencies/organisations which may also be providing services to the young person and/or his/her family.
We aim to understand young people and their difficulties within the broader context of their lives which includes family, friends, school and their local community. This understanding acknowledges the effect of past experiences, the significance of current issues and circumstances, and the nature of adolescence as a life stage.
