My partner, Heather, and I had the pleasure of staying at Alton Lodge Motel for 9 consecutive weeks.
The timing wasn’t wholly by choice but we were refugees from the Edgecumbe flooding event and needed an indefinite stay until our home was declared fit for living.

Alison and Steve considered our plight and viewed our wee Chihuahua Foxy cross animal whereupon they allocated us a unit adjacent to a grassy area and made us feel very welcome.

What actually began as a fairly stress filled experience eased into a relaxed stay even though we needed to extend the time because of building delays.

Our hosts went the extra mile to accommodate us and the regular chats boosted our fraying morale on occasions.

The house staff became buddies over our extended time and this too helped morale considerably. Flute,our wee animal was particularly enamoured.

We enthusiastically recommend Alton Lodge

Great experiences begin with great service provided in a sincere and positive manner. Alison and Steve do this in Spades.

The accommodation is superb. Comfortable with air conditioning and Sky Sport.  The heat regulated indoor swimming pool is superb with temperatures carefully chosen to suit the climate conditions.

Would we stay again?  Absolutely but preferably in our own timeframe.

Arrived without booking a room and even though it was school holidays we were lucky to be given a room for ourselves and 3 grandchildren. Room was big and really clean. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool. Host was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

Always stay here when in Whakatane. Comfortable, good facilities, super friendly and helpful staff. My girls love the pool.

Lovely apartment which was spotless and well equipped. A bit of a walk to the town centre - took about 15 mins. Lovely friendly staff. Would recommend!
