I think Pixie ultimately got very good care from AVC Kensington. Our vet listened, she was thorough, and while the results weren’t what we wanted, they were conclusive enough that we could arrange a beautiful and dignified farewell. They factored in her age and health condition at all times, including limiting anaesthetic and her time in the hospital.nnWhen the vet called me with follow up results, she was thorough, she answered my questions, and most importantly she was unequivocal in telling me that it was time. I can’t emphasise enough how important this was. As someone with a litany of issues, and who only had my dog, I couldn’t make this decision. I was grateful to not only have an expert take it out of my hands, but to give the gentle advice that it should happen very soon - this had already becoming clear within 24 hours of those results, and I had to make the call. I so appreciate that I was able to make the call with confidence thanks to the AVC advice.nnI will never forget the goodbye we were able to have, and it was thanks to your wonderful vet having the courage to deliver awful news with care, and with certainty and clarity.nnIn terms of how they treated Pixie and provided certainty that allowed a peaceful ending, I am grateful, and I am happy to give a 5 star review. It was about Pixie.nnI do have some feedback though when it comes to managing the pet’s person.nnThere needs to be something between “emergency” and “wait 3 weeks for a medical team appt.” I’m so grateful that you squeezed us in after a cancellation, cos my dog wasn’t going to last 3 weeks - but that’s stressful, you either go to emergency more on that in a moment, wait 3 weeks… or badger them enough that someone checks the referral and sees that she’s urgent, then looks for a cancellation slot.nnThe other feedback in terms of people management. My dog was at emergency at AVC Kew see impending review there following a collapsing event on Sunday. My ravenous dog had stopped eating by Sunday. By Monday night she had diahhroea, and the only reason I kept her Kensington appointment was because Kew on Sunday and our practice senior vet on Monday both said keep the appointment.nnI say all that because when I came in on Tuesday, my instincts and my dog were already telling me the outcome, and I was wrestling with whether subjecting her to the tests was selfish. But the vet looked at Pixie’s X-rays… and she offered me hope. In the face of all my instincts telling me it was time, she said “I think it’s *just* severe bronchitis, some fibrosis and some small stomach ulcers.” When I asked if she could see a treatment path out of this, she believed that to be a likelihood.nn24 hours later, the advice was the complete reverse - “unless she has a miracle response to medication tonight, I wouldn’t leave it too long.” I know she felt bad about delivering such bad news, and I stress that I will be eternally grateful for receiving unequivocal advice - but that ultimately false hope ahead of what turned out to be a catastrophic diagnosis 24 hours later was less than ideal.nnThis feedback made me a little uncomfortable naming the doctor, but I did finally want to emphasise that overall she was great, and she was central to Pixie’s beautiful ending. Despite the feedback, I want to thank her for her clarity and the manner in which she delivered it. Pixie went with love and peace after spending the morning saying goodbye, it was close to perfect.nnEdit: just to be clear and fair, where I’ve used quotations I’m generally paraphrasing, I don’t remember word-for-word.
I cannot recommend Advanced Vet Care Emergency in Kensington highly enough.nnRecently, my three-year-old cat became critically unwell very suddenly. After a late-day visit to my local vet, x-rays and blood tests revealed she urgently needed emergency surgery. As they were unable to perform the procedure at that time, we were referred to Advanced Vet Care in Kensington.nnDue to my own anxiety, I was unable to take her in myself, and the team were incredibly understanding—allowing a friend to drop my precious girl off while they communicated with me by phone. From the very first interaction, I knew she was in the safest, most capable hands.nnAfter assessment, it was discovered she had a very rare and serious condition—a twisted bowel—which required major surgery. Throughout the entire process, I was kept fully informed and reassured at every step, including during the three days she spent recovering in hospital.nnWhen it came time to collect her, the staff went above and beyond to accommodate my anxiety, kindly allowing me to wait in a quiet room while the vet completed the handover. Their compassion didn’t stop there. At her post-surgery follow-up, I experienced a panic attack in my car and was unable to come inside. I phoned reception, and without hesitation, they arranged for a staff member to come down and take my girl into her appointment. Afterward, the vet personally brought her back to my car and thoroughly explained how the appointment had gone.nnI will be forever grateful for the exceptional care shown to my beloved cat—and for the extraordinary kindness, patience, and understanding shown to me. The team at Advanced Vet Care Kensington truly go above and beyond, and I cannot thank them enough.nnSally-Ann and Gracie
Our little George has been very injured and unwell. The minute we brought him in, he was taken care of with the highest level of care and love. They kept in touch with us constantly, he had surgery and is on the mend at home now. I also just want to shout out to Casey and the reception staff who really kept us in the loop, looked after all our insurance & were so easy and kind to deal with. Couldn't speak highly enough of the team.
Within 15 hours price went from $2500 to over 10k without guarantee that my pet would survive. Thursday night to Friday morning it went from no guarantee to putting my mate down. Be careful of these folks. I saw so many walking out with tears. A year and half later my dude is still here. They even tried to talk me into paying almost $400 just to put him down. Be careful. I will eventually sue but I’m glad I didn’t listen to idiots at this facility. Khai my dog is here and living. Bunch of idiots at this place. If you’re an owner of a pet that you truly love you need to take them to an another place. DO NOT come here or you’ll be left heart broken. Again my dog khai is alive.
I cannot thank Advanced Vetcare enough for the extraordinary care they gave my Japanese Spitz, Ruben. At 6am, when he was deteriorating hour by hour and it was absolutely heartbreaking to watch, their team was brilliant in diagnosing the problem before it got worse. They quickly discovered he had something stuck in his stomach/intestinal area that required urgent surgery, and their swift action quite literally saved his life.nnFrom the moment we arrived, the vets and nurses were calm, compassionate, and incredibly thorough. They explained what was happening, what the risks were, and what needed to be done, all while reassuring me that Ruben was in the safest hands possible. Watching your pet decline so rapidly is devastating, but their professionalism and empathy gave me confidence at a time when I was overwhelmed with worry.nnYes, pet care is expensive and yes, ICU for pets can feel overwhelming but pets are family, and they are worth every cent. The dedication of the staff, the clear communication, and the life-saving intervention made me realise that the cost is not just about treatment, it’s about giving your beloved companion the best chance to recover and continue being part of your life.nnThe team monitored Ruben closely after surgery, kept me updated on his progress, and made sure I understood the aftercare he would need once discharged. Their ability to act quickly, diagnose accurately, and provide compassionate support made all the difference.nnI am deeply grateful to Advanced Vetcare for their skill, kindness, and commitment. They turned what could have been a tragedy into a story of recovery and hope. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing urgent, expert care for their pet they are true professionals who treat every animal as if it were their own.
