Overall impression: nA vibrant, well-laid-out market with excellent undercover parking and a fantastic range of fresh food.nnWhat we liked: nEasy undercover parking and a great selection of cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, breads, meat and charcuterie. nThe aisles are wide enough to allow for easier manoeuvring, even when the market is busy, which makes the experience much more enjoyable.nnWhat could be better: nThe tables and chairs in the seating areas could be cleaned more frequently, especially during peak times.nnWhat we did: nBrowsed and shopped across several stalls including fresh produce, cheese, bread and deli items.nnGood to know: nDespite being very popular, the layout helps manage crowds better than many other markets.nnWould we return? nYes – absolutely. A great place to shop and explore quality local produce.
What a fun experience!! There's something for everyone at this market! There's a south american kitchen; La Cumbia Bar Kitchen; a turkish one and lots of fresh fruit grocers offering delicious fruit and veggies! As a mum - I really appreciate the parents'/changing room which was nice and clean :
Ww visited on a Thursday morning. There were lots of school kids there.nThe food looked great. Impressed that it was not all 1st class.nLots of diversity and options.nI will continue to recommend to friends and family who visit from interstate.
This was my second visit to these markets and, perhaps due to the ongoing renovations, seemed a bit less pleasant. Firstly, it didn't feel as large and secondly, I found it quite dark inside.nNonetheless, I did enjoy wandering all the aisles some are a bit on the narrow side and perusing the different stalls. The majority are definitely food and veggies, followed by fish and meat. There are plenty of eateries as well.nnIf coming in by public transport, the free tram stops at Victoria Square - a 5 minute walk from the market. There is parking and the first hour is free. On Saturdays, the first three hours are free during market opening hours. There are electric vehicle charging stations in the carpark.
I would live in Central Market if I had the opportunity - can spend hours there, doing very little, and have a great time. It's clean, not stinky like some markets, nice and compact but plenty of variety in stalls from sweets and snacks, produce, seafood, meat, dairy and cheese, to fresh food and drinks on the go, restaurants and more. Not open Sundays or Mondays but everyone needs a break!
