Above Board

Approaching the venue through a dodgy back lane (although nice graffiti), I had no expectations. After climbing the stairs and second guessing if we had the right door I was pleasantly surprised to enter a beautifully small bar with a gentle hum of conversation among the 6 patrons. The bartender welcomed us with with a warm smile, setting down two glasses of water in front of two seats, and two black leather cocktail menus with his black leather gloves. The cocktail menu was accommodating to various tastes. The lighting was low enough to set a mood without any strain on the eyes. It had been a while since I had sat at a bar and found myself appreciating the workmanship and style of the wooden countertop. The bartender would converse without intrusion and the cocktails were enjoyable. They are not cheap but what you would expect. Not the place for those who do not enjoy cocktails but then again what would you be doing in a nice cocktail bar if that were the case. Why buy expensive scotch if you don't like scotch? The finishing touch was after paying our bill to find the barman holding the door open for us to leave. An overall wonderful experience albeit specifically catered. My new favourite cocktail bar for a private, quiet experiences.

Nice Little cocktail bar hidden away, excellent service! I have never had better service in my life. Great cocktails aswell. Would definitely return here!

The atmosphere is cool and calm, the drinks are perfectly balanced, and the staff are amazing in skill and personality. If you can find this place, then you must pull up a chair and order a beverage.

Drinks were some of the best I've had and the bar was beautiful. Hayden was a perfect host and me and my wife would have happily chatted away the whole day. It's hard to find bars that can go that little extra distance to set them apart from other otherwise great ones. Highly recommend.

Casual banter meets ultra professional understatement. A bar experience that is devoted to appropriate reverence for the product.
