Saint Crispin

Pretty disappointing for how its talked up. All the sauces were sweet, so it was like a huge (and bland) sugar hit, one-dimensional food, including a silly jelly-sweet coated in sugar to "finish" - like the penny jelly sweets we used to get as kids. The champagne in particular was pretty bland and the wines under-done for the price. And the atmosphere; get 'em in, push 'em out to a timetable. Vastly over-rated to my mind, far too expensive for what they offer. Used to be so good a couple of years ago when I last went, so a huge disappointment now. But if you like a huge sugar hit, go for it!

The ambiance and staff were great. The entrees and sides were also quite tasty. My main, the lamb, was not the best cut of the meat and was extra chewy making it difficult to rate my experience higher. Other people I dined with really liked their food and dessert so I might just have to come back to review it again.

Lovely food and great service. I have been to St Crispin many times over the last number of years and my most recent visit did not disappoint. The service was great and the food yummy. There was only one dish which I found a bit oily. I left feeling very full and felt the size of the serves was generous for what I paid. Will happily return.

I’ve tried to contact the restaurant directly but line of communication not easy. Have just spent Christmas Eve at St Crispen in Collingwood and was really disappointed. This was our third visit to the restaurant and on previous occasions the food has been outstanding and this was matched by the service. Service tonight was really poor. We constantly had to seek the attention of waiting service. The wine we ordered was not poured as needed - so leave it on the table!! . The wrong wine was brought to the table, the wrong food was brought to the table. Water glasses were not refilled. Very disappointing- there are so many great places in Melbourne and Collingwood. St Crispin unfortunately is not one of them. A fallen star!! Lon elsewhere.

Very disappointing. With prices on the menu as they are I would have expected much better. The menu choices are limited and the kitchen just seems to be a production line. Oh, and if you don't mind the chef plating up with a spoon then licking the sauce off it, placing it back into a container with what I assume is water, then re-using the spoon and other utensils from the same container, then it may be ok for you. We witnessed this on several occasions as he was in plain site. Wait staff were great.
