We can not recommend using the Lakes Resort and Caravan Park at Berry Springs. We were parked there for a while after a car accident. Dogs aren't supposed to be off lead but some dogs are allowed to. One dog in particular seems to be exempt despite the fact it is huge and poops everywhere. One morning it really scared me and I screamed when it came running at me from behind. The dog's owner just laughed at me. Manager said the dogs owner insisted it only wanted a pat and that no-one else has a problem with the dog. Yes, they did! There were plenty of other dog owners near us that did not appreciate this dog being off lead and allowed to wander into their camp sites - especially seeing as they had been given a special letter informing them dogs are not allowed off lead any time! That afternoon the dogs owner came over and threatened us and threatened to called the police on one of the other campers if we dared make trouble for her again. When I complained again to the manager, as I was quite shaken by how aggressive the dog owner was, the manager of the park told me I was being childish and she felt she was running a school yard rather than a van park. We decided to leave. The day we were leaving we ran into a police officer doing his usual daily patrol of the park and he was horrified I had children in the park. I told him we were leaving that day and he said "Good. We get called here all the time, for all sorts of things. This isn't a place you want to bring kids." I explained we'd had a car accident and got stuck out here and he offered to tow us out! Don't make the same mistake we made. It is also a very long way out from Darwin. You'd be much better off staying closer to town and make the Berry Springs a day trip.

The check in lady was very polite & helpful on the phone & in person. My partner & I stayed in our tent at an unpowered site but it was a very nice stay. Very quite at night. The park looked clean, tidy. Thanks heaps to the lady at reception for such a warm welcome
