We love Indian food. AJ’s did not disappoint. Having been to India a couple of times, I could not have been more impressed with how AJ has created a real Indian Cafe feel. This is what it is like. The service was excellent, AJ ensuring our needs were met in a gentle, non intrusive manner. And the food, so good. Highly recommended
What magnificent service in this charming restaurant. We felt very looked after, And were most pleased to discover that it was BYO. There are many good Indian restaurants in Launceston and this is one of them. The food can't be faulted, the decor is interesting, service is good. The one time we ordered takeaway they were a bit slow,
Good friendly service but unfortunately this was their best quality. Food was average. A spicy vindaloo was ordered but it just mild & salty. The biryani was bland and tasteless. Butter chicken was very sweet. when compared to another better quality Indian place not too far away, AJ's pales badly - both in food quality and value for money. Our family are regular eaters of Indian cuisine, so we can discern good from bad... and this was not good food. Good service though.
The kind of places I hate the most. What's the point of charging 20 dollars if the plate is gonna make you more hungry than you were. Everything is tiny. Wouldn't recommend it.

Sorry AAJ for a very low rating but we had an awful experience at your restaurant. We had to wait around 1.5 hour before we got our meal. We ordered entree platter Chicken had no flavor of tandoor at all test was ok. And ordered butter chicken, Lamb Spinach and Chicken biriyani for main. All 3 dishes were terrible, worst butter chicken I ever had and the biriyani was soggy like a mashed rice. The staffs were ok. Would not recommend to anyone.
Wanting Indian within walking distance of our accommodation. AAJ’s was the second restaurant we tried as the first was fully booked. The wait staff were very welcoming and we couldn’t complain about the service or the food. We ordered the malal kofta and the butter chicken. Both dishes we enjoyable, perhaps not the best Indian we’ve ever had but we’d certainly return to AAJ’s. The rice and naan bread were delicious which allowed us the leave the restaurant rather satisfied. Quite impressed with the waitresses, both were attentive yet reserved and the waiter carried his own well also. Well done AAJ. Thank you
Great spot for an Indian fix! Staff are super friendly and the cuisine is as authentic as it goes in the western world. Spicy level is quite low as per the instructions in the menu, if you like it hotter, just ask for it. Complimentary papadum and sweet chilli sauces are nice.
The staff were friendly. I wanted to use a bathroom and they took me through their kitchen to use it. Not ideal but it was ok. I’m not a fan of spice but enjoy curry, however I wasn’t asked how I wanted the curry - if offered mild I would’ve been ok. Portions didn’t seem big but a bit pricy.
It was the worst experience ever for me and my family. We were so disappointed. We went there for dinner on Wednesday, 07th of September, 2016. We booked our table in advance. Initially we ordered our food but staff member was forcing us to order more with laughing and stating that "it will not be enough". It was showing their money-minded attitude. Food quality was very poor, especially "Butter Naan" were very dry like "Chewing gum", thin like Papadum and there was no butter at all. We did make complain about it but there was no proper answer. We ordered curry to be made spicy but it was sweet like ice-cream. We also asked to see manager for proper reply but no one came. After making complains, staff became unhappy and started to make more attention to other customers who came after us and left us alone without any service for 15-20 minutes. It was so embracing. We did not finish our dinner. We paid full amount. We did not get proper reply or any apology from them regarding food quality. No star at all. I will not recommend to go there to anyone.
