A Spot for Joe

Story

At a spot for joe we relish nothing more (maybe apart from shopping!) than eating food that is fresh and full of flavour, drinking a great cup of coffee and enjoying a bottle of fine wine. We have been fortunate enough to have travelled to many countries and experienced everything from Michelin Star restaurants in Barcelona to home cooked meals in Cuba, roof top restaurants in Casablanca and street hawker food throughout Asia. Almost always part of the experience is searching for that elusive cafe / restaurant / bar. Looking down laneways, finding hidden doors and scouring backstreets is all part of the experience! Melbourne is full of gorgeous laneways with many treasures tucked away. Finding them is half the fun! That's what we are hoping to achieve with a spot for joe. Bringing that Melbourne / New York feel to Geelong for everyone to enjoy. This is also why we do not advertise and prefer not to spell out exactly where we are, hence our minimal signage. A little mystery is part of the adventure and we hope you understand and appreciate this in your search to join us!

"Located in the heart of the Geelong CBD, A Spot For Joe is one of Geelong's most popular coffee destinations. It's OK cafe to sit and kill the time as it's well designed/decorated. Plus on each seatsbench, it has PowerPoint which I can feel carefully designed for customers. However, I'm not sure about food and coffee. Only having plain bagle, croissant and coffee wasn't i wasn't expecting festive food, but I could smell/taste the croissant was defrosted. Whilst warming croissant and bagle up, two vivid staffs were in charge in tiny cute kitchen and they were laughing and talking, was worried about spit, hygiene. Like others talking and laughing but it was huge talks in front of. Cappuccino, it tastes milk more but no coffee, not too negative and this can be personal preference. I'm not sure if I will be back but the design of cafe was cute.
This cute little cafe is a hidden gem, tucked away behind the main street. It serves a large selection of excellent bagels & bowls, and superb coffee. Very trendy and very popular. Great spot for breakfast or brunch.
Been thinking to try brunch here We’ve been here couple of times for their coffee and always curious about their food since they are almost always full. And guess what? They have bagels!!! It was a good brunch and the price was reasonable. Might be back for more on the menu. #bulgogi_n_rendang
The food was delicious and well priced. I got the Mexican bowl, which was flavourful. My partner got the eggs benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly and it came with a very generous layer of avocado. On the other hand, the nut smoothie that I ordered was almost flavourless and it arrived warm it should have been cold. It was also very expensive $9.50 for a small jar. My partner's iced chocolate was nice, but also very expensive. I would recommend coming here for the food, but not for the drinks.
Lively and busy cafe with good service. The coffee is tasteful. My opinion for improvement: The benches do need some soft covering like a pillow because sitting on wood is not comfortable. Also the prices for food is a little ridiculous. I chose a 'smashed avacado' on toast for $16 bit much, it looked good and tasted well but kind of fell a bit short with the pesto it already has basil leaves which is enough, doesn't need pesto, also the chilli flakes shouldn't be with the salt as it doesn't need more salt, but would have liked to have added the chilli. I still enjoy this cafe, would like to give it 5 stars in the future.
Great little cafe, parking easy, friendly staff, great coffee, delicious food, I had the japanese bowl, my wife had the chorizo bagel
Great little spot for great coffee and stylish brekky style food. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and lots of regulars always a good sign .
Amazing menu that can be catered easily for any diet. A variety of baked goodness or fresh beautiful produce. Still and sparkling water on tap. Delicious oat milk latte. Friendly staff.
Only had coffee but it was very good. Staff were friendly and I’d love to go back and try their food. Lots of parking also.
Great Cafe. Has small and large tables for different sized groups. Indoor and outdoor seating. Parking nearby. Ready to go sweet foods at counter. Great menu. Food was fresh and delicious, with inventive twists on old classics. Chai latte is a very earthy tasting one. Coffees were excellent. Overall price is pretty good. Meals are medium sized. Has a toilet for patrons. Great atmosphere inside. Staff were friendly and service was quick.
