A Hereford Beefstouw is a Danish inspired steakhouse known as one of Adelaide's best steak experiences.

Located in the Hutt Street restaurant precinct. Our speciality is steak and dry ageing.

We raise Herefords on our farm near Lucindale in the South East, and we dry age these and other cuts in our state of the art dry ageing facility in the Adelaide Hills. Generally we age for around 40 days, sometimes out to 100, before cooking with simplicity and care.

The restaurant is housed in the former Christian Womens Temperance building, with a relaxed Danish inspired interior. The fit out has been created by the A Hereford Beefstouw family of designers and artisans - from the cutlery, to the tables and chairs, lighting and artworks.

Our restaurant builds on a heritage of working with high quality beef, through A Hereford Beefstouw restaurants in Denmark.

If you are looking for only steak, this is place to go to but if you want to splurge. If not don't bother. Great place for special occasions such as birthday esp but not to have every night to have dinner. I got the pork belly it was average need bit more flavour for my liking and filling. Oyster smelt fishy but wasn't too overpowering. Chicken wings with sriracha was good but spicy so if your spicy tolerance is zero best to ask not to have the sauce on it. I have tried bit of tomahawk steak was good not burnt well cooked inside with medium rare, little bit chewy for me. Others got eye fillet 160g with garlic butter m/r says really good. Seating was nice outside with heater wasn't too bad. I recommend it for steak lovers.
You could get a glass of whiskey on your birthday, they have got range of whiskey from different years, like your birth year, from 1960-1997. The steak cooked really good, but you have to allow 30 minutes for medium rare. Also got this my boy blue cocktail, really nice, had a really good birthday night there. The environment is cozy, but the shop is quite busy, so allow your order comes not so fast Entry choice if could be more would be better
Nice ambiance with indoor and verandah seatings. Sourdough was really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Good bread. 2 racks of ribs were marinated in bbq sauce and the meat just falls off the bone. Tastes so good. T Bone was cooked medium rare and so tender, it melts in your mouth. Went really well with the blue cheese sauce. Mushroom sauce was also really delicious, wish I had more. Housemade fries were crispy enough. And greens paired well with all the meats. Toasted almonds were crunchy. Pricey for the size served but they all tasted good.
Visited with a group of 8 on a weekend and the place was packed. Good thing we made a booking! I tried my mate’s 100 day steak and it was heaps good. Mine on the other hand, was just a little harder to chew and had quite abit of fats. Definitely recommend a visit here if you are after steak.
Had the steak here ages ago and the experience was great. Had it recently to celebrate our anniversary but the quality seems to degrade. With windy and cold weather one expect heater to be put out but the team was ignorant. Indoor dining was said to be full for our party of 12 but til we finish eating , the place was still half empty. Maybe due to covid restriction?
This place is a must if you love steak. The service was great atmosphere was very nice. Do make sure you book.

Had a wonderful experience here and very much loved the Eye Fillet we got. I definitely recommend it. The waiting staff were also very friendly and quite attentive.
#Love the steak, service needs to be improved. I ordered a bread to start but the server forgot it. I ordered a blue cheese sauce together with our steak but its not on our plate.
Dined at A Hereford Beefstouw for the second time with some friends and I am still impressed with their customer service and food options. I ordered the 350g Dry aged Rump Steak with thick cut chips medium. Was thoroughly impressed on serving size for the price and quality cut of meat. Will be back again to try the 1.5kg Tomahawk steak next!
