The Gear Homestead Woolshed Potters club was established in 1980. The club takes its name from their location on the ground floor of the historic woolshed within the beautiful grounds of Gear Homestead. This building was originally built as the coach house and stables for the homestead and has undergone several restorations and recently been upgraded to earthquake and fire safety standards.
The club’s facilities boast a large working area with a dozen wheels, slab roller, extruder and pugmill, with two electric kilns and a small test kiln in a separate room. The Raku and salt firing kilns are sometimes put to use.
Club nights Wednesdays from 7.30pm and we hold monthly club activity nights along with several weekend activities each year.
