Story

Te Rauparaha Arena is a multi-purpose indoor sports and entertainment centre in Porirua, New Zealand. The centre, which cost NZ$17.5 million to construct, was officially opened on 21 November 2008. The main stadium has a maximum capacity of 3,000, while a secondary stadium can hold another 500 people. The venue was named by the Ngāti Toa iwi after one of their most famous leaders, Te Rauparaha.
The venue was built as a replacement for the Porirua Recreation Centre, which went into the administration of the Porirua City Council in 1998 after it was no longer able to be maintained. The council decided to replace it with a larger sports and entertainment centre in 2000. Following years of designing and community consultation, construction of the present venue began in January 2008, and celebrated its official opening on 21 November.
Te Rauparaha Arena is an alternate home venue for the Central Pulse in the ANZ Championship. In 2009, it was the venue at which the Pulse recorded their first victory in the ANZ Championship, with a 53–52 victory over 2008 champions the New South Wales Swifts.
It hosted the Māori Art Market in 2009 and 2011.

Good proximity to Porirua township, railway station, Countdown and food places. Excellent facility for national events. Uber to Wellington cost $41.00 evening rate. Cafe food was freshly made on the premises choice dependent. Good, clean facility.
Was working, but great facilities for a large function. The caterers Fine Touch Caters do a fantastic job with lovely food and service . The people who run the function centre there are pleasant and easy to work with.
I came into Te Rauparaha cafe for a coffee and bite to eat. I love a good coffee and this didn’t disappoint. Perfect temperature, with just the right amount of vanilla. It’s a lovely open, airy cafe with super friendly staff. The cake was delicious too!
Best swimming pool in Wellington region. Family pass costs under $20 and includes slide, sauna, steam room and spa. The Cafe attached is a must try after a nice swim.
Poor lighting for an exhibition in the Main Arena. Poor toilets. Food area on Saturday was OK but on Sunday they didn't have any plates, cups or cutlery. Eating food out of cardboard take away boxes with silly little bamboo knifes & forks was very difficult & messy.
Always great to visit, both with kids or by myself just to swim. I like they there is always few lanes just for swimming.
Price and facilities were great , staff were lovely and the kids loved it
My kids loved it here. Clean, organized and a lot it of fun.
Excellent spacious facility. Great aquatic area, basketball court, fitness centre and eatery. The events are always well presented and attended.
We visited during the week for an expo. There was ample of parking including disabled and the arena itself was light and had plenty of room
