WCLHC Inc. is a small community of horse owners and their horses (plus a club pony) who reside on the South Coast of Wellington. We are also happy to offer overnight horse grazing to those visiting or travelling through. Message us for info.
We still try to maintain a public image and hope to preserve a bit of the old country feel of the area. We think it's great for adults and children alike to be able to get close to horses in their environment and we welcome any feedback you have.
Most of the horses and ponies are privately owned, but graze on the hills overlooking Carlucciland, from the top of Quebec Street in Kingston to the shed at the corner of Murchison Street and Happy Valley Road.
Generally they will stay away from people, but if you have apples or carrots, you are welcome to try to make friends with them. Just mind your fingers!
Sometimes we have bags of horse poo available for a koha/donation at the shed at the bottom of Murchison Street. Any money collected goes towards the upkeep of the club pony 'Strawberry', and the poo is great in the garden.
We are also happy to host overnight horse grazing for visitors or those travelling through. Message us for details.
Between October and March we also try to hold club days on the last Sunday of the month at our Houghton bay grounds to get up close and personal with the ponies.
You may also see us at the Owhiro Bay Country Fair in November, or other community events.
