Weddings at The Honest Lawyer Country Pub & Hotel

Good rooms of a decent size. Good showers and comfy beds. Clean and nicely presented. Very reasonable prices. The pub downstairs had great food, not a huge choice but you would be fussy not too find something. The meals were a good size and came out promptly, they were also a good price. Best of all is Guinness on tap.

Great selection of beers/drinks. Very friendly staff! Especially Brooklyn. Big kudos to her for driving us to the airport! Food was outstanding try the steak on the hot rock!. Accommodations were well kept and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay!Recommended dishesFish and Chips

We love going to the honest lawyer, love the big outside space, the staff are great! Sadly the food quality and quantity has gone down. We paid $14 for a child's fish and chips, he is 2 and it was enough to fill him up. There was literally only 10 chips on the plate and a very small piece of fish. We don't want to stop being customers of the honest lawyer but something needs to change

Had a lovely stay before and after walking the Able Tasman Track, room was lovely, bed comfortable, the home cooked biscuits were yummy and the continental breakfast with fruit was great and enough to start the walk on. We enjoyed both lunch and dinner in the restaurant which has a lovely atmosphere, and the staff were delightful. Thank you. Oh we walked from the airport and into town very lovely walk.

We got the hot stone steaks which were really tasty, but we would have liked some tips on how to cook them because they serve the meat basically uncooked on the hot stone. We ended up figuring it out and enjoying the unique experience. But consider asking your server for instructions to cook it to your liking.

Hands down the best seafood chowder I’ve had in a long time. Also the beer burger was great. Nice moist patty. Enjoyed the court yard. Just have to watch out for low flying planes Recommended dishesSeafood Chowder

Mother's Day 2023.. Waited over an hour and never got our food. Got money back. They hadn't started our order and they complained about only having 2 chefs and 250 people. Then was told shouldn't have bought the kid. They don't take their kids there. We left really angry. No stars for that. But Nelson KFC were awesome. We were treated well.

We had a very pleasant lunch at the Honest Lawyer pub in Nelson. They have great indoor and outdoor facilities. The food and service was good. Location is interesting, a bit out of the way, but the views are good. I would go again.Food: 4/5

A lovely old building, but disappointingly few windows you could actually sit and see the view. We went for lunch, not a very exciting menu. I had the beetroot and quinoa salad with chicken - It was a huge serving and a nice combination other than the beetroot tasted canned and actually didn't need the extra chicken. My husband had salmon bagel but he thought the salmon tasted canned as well. Couldn't fault the staff though, friendly and helpful.

Super disappointing- a family 70 th birthday booked 6 months ago. Checked 3 times before the date to ensure everything was in order. Arrived to find nothing prepared- a promised room was ‘ double booked’ - see a recent review also on double booked. A big wedding was also happening at the same time that they assured us they could handle plus the regulars/ public…. It was chaos- not enough staff. No tables set, no water made available, waiting to be served at the bar for long stretches of time. Just not good enough. I felt sorry for the lovely staff they were under the pump, under staffed. They should not have taken on two large bookings tbh and also maybe closed it to public knowing they were short staffed. Would not recommend for an event. Truly a disappointment for our party.
