Wayfarer sits opposite the Domestic arrivals and departure gates at the Auckland airport; perfectly situated to while away the time between one place and the next, I was enticed not only by the promise of a welcome espresso, but also their cabinet treats. A buffalo mozzarella and heritage tomato bagel was so vibrant it begged me to try. Service was a little slow, some of the servers seemed to be chatting and took awhile to notice my presence. In spite of having plenty of tables, all food items and coffee arrived in takeout containers. I don’t know if this is a condition of their lease, but actual serveware would have been preferable. The coffee was acceptable; I rate the bagel quite highly, it certainly burst full of flavor with the generosity of toppings, however could have been toasted longer as was rather blond and soft where it should have been crisp. An indulgent cinnamon brioche eaten alongside was heated perfectly and was fluffy and moreish. Not bad for airport fare but room to improve.
Generally always get something from here before boarding a regional flight as they accept Strata club points. Their coffee is good and comes fast! Although I'm pretty sure all their food is brought in, the tomato and mozerella bagel is really nice. Boysenberry danish was a little doughy last time I went. Sadly, no ice coffees or chocolates available!
Disgusting coffee ! Sent it back and it came back just the same. Service was not good either. Will definitely not be going there again.
Handy for regional airlines. Not friendly but quick service. They only do coffee in disposable cups bit of a shame.
Coffee is tastes like water that looked at a coffee bean. As someone who drinks black coffee and has spent over a decade in hospitality this is terrible even for airport coffee. Furthermore the sour faced want to be hipster with a top knot finds customers as an inconvenience, this is not acceptable and is a poor impression of the county for a traveller. Glad I'm a local and can recommend avoiding this place. Definately will not be back
Ok, let's focus on the most important part about this place, the coffee. Fair price for an airport place, nice setup modern, clean and open. Ordered my favourite morning beverage, cappuccino. Solid coffer taste, great froth. Wouldn't mind a bit more umph but I liked it. Not too bad for an airport where they think they can rip off travelers. I will come back!
I have been to the shop at Auckland domestic terminal. I ordered a cup of coffee and I was asked to have a seat and the coffee would be brought to me. When the waitress brought the coffee, I asked for sugar. She said that I could help myself and go bring some sachets available near the counter. That was fine, but at the same time, another customer at the corner of the place asked for the same, and she happily brought sugar and a spoon to him. I then moved to another chair and put my wheeled bag next to me. It was not blocking the way that much, and when I was about to move it , another waitress passed by and pushed the bag with her foot without excusing or asking. The whole situation was weird and the manners I realized were discriminative and seemingly racist. I contacted you earlier but I got no response. A place like that should be aware of the fact that many international passengers visit it and there are manners and ethics that should be cared for when you deal with customers.
Staff member was rude when the coffee machine broke down, all he had to do was be polite to the customer. When dealing with public especially when they have traveled from overseas and need to connect to a domestic fight and need a cuppa a friendly face can go a long way. Suggest he smarten up his act a bit. Shame as the food looked good.
Not impressed. I ordered a cup of tea with milkand received a cup of white lukewarm liquid vaguely tea flavoured. I asked for a top up of boiling water but it was still lukewarm. I was told it was because their machine didn't make boiling water - it was set to a temperature under boiling. So why attempt to make tea without boiling water? I've never heard anything like it! I also bought a cinnamon brioche. They should name it the Walnut and Sugar brioche. I couldn't taste any cinnamon. Won't be throwing my money away here again. I went to Wishbone instead and got a boiling cup of tea.
Staff txting before serving us. Then barista using his phone while making coffee. Very poor table service. Unprofessional
