Wanaka Wastebusters

About

Wanaka Wastebusters was set up by our community in 2000 with a mission to work towards zero waste in Wanaka and across the country.

Story

Wastebusters was set up in Wanaka by our community in 2000 with a mission to work towards zero waste in Wanaka and across the country. We run a recycling and reuse centre, and do education for sustainability work in schools and in the wider community, including the Dr Compost home composting programme. We campaign for zero waste including stopping using single use plastic bags and bottles, product stewardship, container deposit legislation and an end to ridiculous over-packaging.

Mission

Our Mission
We are a community owned enterprise, providing innovative resource recovery and education for sustainability solutions for our community and across New Zealand.

Our Vision
Going beyond the ordinary, we will be influential and self sustaining. We will provide meaningful jobs as we work together towards zero waste.

Nice op shop! Had all kinds of stuff there. It is also a recycling place so you can donate the items that aren't in that bad of a condition and recycle what is not worth donating. Very good idea!
Best place to get ski gear.. well set up
Lots of people their today. Great concept. Priced well.caters for all. Not gets wasted, you have to take your time and will find your needs.
Great selection. Friendly staff. Can't use international cards/credit cards for transactions and stuff is a little bit pricey but I would still recommend going. Definitely buy secondhand
Lost my $50 bag, got a new one for $1. Lifes good
Great staff, so funny and the service as well as the food was great. Thanks
Great place to ensure stuff is repurchased and reused not just buried.
