Pros: Great location right in the middle of town with lots of parking.nnCons: Pillows are all too fat and high, we both had sore necks from sleeping. Not very sound proof, we had very noisy upstairs neighbours who kept waking us at night. When we were trying to get ready to leave in the morning, house keeping kept knocking on the door asking to come in. This happened 4 times between 9.30-9.50am despite us saying we were leaving at 10am and trying to get our child ready.nnWould I stay again? MAYBE, But I’d bring my own pillow
Friendly lady on front desk upon arrival. Room heater was on for us whether intentional or not, was nice to walk into. Clean, quite spacious. We had a garden view studio room. Good sized bathroom. Pretty much had everything we were looking for in accommodation. Bed was comfortable. I asked for extra towels, was no problem. Really enjoyed our stay here. Had a different receptionist on way out who wasn't as friendly as the Asian lady who had originally greeted us but this didn't change our good experience.
I enjoyed my stay at the Wanaka Hotel. Similar to other reviews, the location is excellent. It is a 2 minute walk to the lake front. You literally only need to walk down slope and cross 1 road to get there. There were plenty of restaurants in the area. There was a small supermarket right opposite the hotel. Having said that, the Wanaka town centre is very small, so you could walk anywhere within 5 minutes.nnThere is a carpark for hotel guests at the back and I did not have any issue finding a lot. There was a kitchenette for hotel guests which had a stove, microwave and toaster. They also had pots and pans. I didnt cook anything there but was glad that there was a microwave I could use. There is no lift in the hotel, but it is only 2 storeys. I stayed on the ground floor, so not much issue. You may need to carry your luggage up a few steps from the carpark and within the hotel.nnThe rooms itself were fine and as expected. It was clean and tidy. The only issue I had with the room was that the walls were very thin, so I could very clearly hear my neighbour's conversation and people walking down the corridors. So if you're sensitive to noise, just be aware when you book this hotel.nnThe staff were also polite, friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was fast. They also gave good recommendations on what to do and where to eat when I checked in.nnAll the hotels in Wanaka and Queenstown was expensive, even during non-peak period. I managed to get a decent price on my stay.nnOverall, I enjoyed my stay in Wanaka, and I would stay here again if the price was good.
Lou checked us in, she is just the sweetest person, very friendly and kind . She gave us an upgrade wich we were really grateful for.nShe made the stay even better.nnShoutout to Lou!
Staff were lovely and the location was very central. The hotel it's self was very dated, our room was exceptionally small and smelled of old, stale and damp carpet.
