We parked outside Wallace Cotton today. I stayed in the car. While my partner ran across the road to pick up a click & collect. Within 30 seconds, the blonde staff member tapped on the car window, not even asking me if I was a customer - just telling me we could not park there. I nervously apologised. My partner was back within a few minutes, and was planning to go into Wallace Cotton to purchase a bunch of vouchers for a Mother’s Day work function. But we decided not to, as they were STARING at us as if we had committed a crime. Extremely uncomfortable experience, we’ve managed a successful retail business for 15 years+, and now understand why Wallace Cotton has such a bad reputation in Newmarket. If you are not White, avoid this place at all costs!! You missed out on a $4000 sale today.
Brought a waffle duvet from them 2 years ago, since then it has faded to a pale colour, took it back in and they couldn’t have been more condescending, the lady went on to blame me for it being sun damaged, even thought it was in a downstairs bedroom no where near a window or natural light. Made me feel like I was lying to her. All round pretty bad service, definitely won’t be shipping there again…
Had a really horrendous experience with one of the ladies working here. I have never been spoken to in such a condescending and rude way before. She didn't take the time to listen to me before aggressively telling me I just wasn't doing things right and needed to do all these things with the product I wasn't happy with. It caught me off guard and I couldn't believe someone in customer service would speak to a customer like this. I ended up bursting into tears after the encounter because of how aggressive she was. I understand a policy is a policy, but there are kinder ways to communicate these things without making the customer feel horrible. Will not be going back to this store again.
Next time don’t chase away customers from the car park before 9AM opening and if I wasn’t Samoan you wouldn’t have said anything Karen. Still no customers after 9am as per below photo. FYI I live and breathe New Market.
Love this place... Brought 2 duvets off them.. And a throw and will be buying another soon Highly recommend Wallace Cotton Newmarket
Love their products. Will only buy my bed linen here, it’s the best. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Online shopping is a breeze too and goods arrive very fast. 10/10 from me in every aspect.
I bought a quilt online and I couldn’t believe it when I received it the very next day. Now that’s service! I’m so impressed. Not to mention, I loooooooove my new bedspread. I’m a huge fan of their products. Great quality, beautiful designs.
The styling in this store is really lovely and you will want your bedroom ware to look this good. They have a beautiful range of high quality linen and everything is well put together. Definately worth a visit if you want to spruce up your bedrooms.
Turns out you can't wash Wallace Cotton sheets in warm water. I phoned the store after my sheets shrunk so much that they wouldn't fit my bed after a warm wash to be told that their sheets are cold wash only. This is ridiculous and kind of gross as sheets need to be washed on warm or even hot to get them nice and clean. Will not be buying bedding from here again. I've never had cheaper Briscoes sheets do this before.
The best customer service I have ever received, felt very comfortable with staff as they were very helpful and knowledgeable. Product quality is absolutely fantastic - my whole room is essentially Wallace Cotton.
