The hostel is amazing! Ian and his family success is making you feel homey, the hostel is very cozy! The showers are clean and the water hot and strong! The beds are very comfortable, I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and it was very comfortable! The dorm had a heater.nThe kitchen is very well equipped. But what I really liked was the way Ian and his family received you, as you were a guest in their house! Amazing place and I’ll come back someday!
We had a wonderful time at the retreat, the common area's are spacious, clean, and comfortable. The rooms, while eclectic are spacious and clean -- this was the only mold-free hostel shower I saw on my two weeks traveling the North Island.nnThe highlight of our stay was the very gregarious owner, Ian, who made us feel very welcome. He had great recommendations for sights in the area, and always jumped at the chance to help us out. We also noticed the thought and effort he puts into building connections between his guests.nnAs a bonus, they have a very cute little Cockatiel named Harry :nnWe will certainly be returning once we're fit enough to tackle the Tongariro Crossing.
Easily one of the best, perhaps even the best, hostels I've ever stayed in! The retreat is super comfy and everything is immaculate. The atmosphere was also really good and I met a lot of fun people.nnIan, who runs the place, is an absolute legend and he really enjoys bringing everyone together and creating the perfect environment. Thanks for everything once again, and look forward to the next time I'm back!nnWould fully recommend staying here, and no doubt you'll want to extend.nnP.S. Don't book any shuffles before coming here! They're pretty expensive if you book online, and Ian will give you a much, much better deal once you arrive!
This was a great place to shack up a few nights while in the area while offering you the chance to talk with people from all over the globe. The rooms were clean and the kitchen well stocked with cookware and appliances. The owner was friendly and had a nice dog. Would stay again.
