I am a cleaner to service the rooms. All the places were available for others to rent for days if needed. The rooms were perfectly furnished, clean, and done everything. Tidy places to enjoy. Creel Lodge is a great place to visit!! AAA
A great rustic lodge nestled in Waikato. The grounds of this place is stunning, with foot trails along the river perfect for a stroll, run, or fishing!nnFront desk was very helpful and responsive. Big flattop grills are available to cook meats/fish, please note that the lodge asks for fish, meats, and curries to be cooked outside.nnThe little cafe at the front of the Creel Lodge is not one to miss! They have a lovely selection of fresh pastries that we wished we took better advantage of.
I can see why assume if the reviews may have gone the way they did, but I would suggest you ignore them and give this place a go. The accommodation is awesome - we had a very roomy two bedroom unit with a large lounge and dining and all the mood cons. The gardens are indescribable... In a good way. I would love to be here when it's still warmer - it will make sense when you get here. Will rebook every time I'm in Turangi. It's quiet, river access is a walk through the back gate.
What a beautiful lodge right next to the river, perfectly set up for fishing. We arrived late around 8pm on a Thursday and to our surprise were still serviced at reception. The unit was warm and cosy upon arrival as the heat pump was switched on, very welcome on such a cold night. It had a sizable kitchen and living room with tidy and comfortable furniture, 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. There are many thoughtful touches for the fisherman, like a fishing rod holder, hooks outside for wet waders, and a fish cleaning room on the premises. Additionally, there is a reading room/library, ample bbq facilities outside and even a laundry room. The best part was the direct access to the river through the beautifully kept gardens. Even though we didn't catch any fish purely a problem with the fishermen and not the location we will definitely return.
What a great place. The lodge was beautifully appointed and in an idyllic, very quiet location by the river which was also less than ten minutes' walk from the supermarket. The owners and other staff we met were welcoming and helpful. Spotlessly clean, a proper kitchen area, comfortable beds, guest laundry, seating areas hidden in the gardens - everything you could need for a peaceful visit. Originally aimed at anglers but a great place for anybody to stay. I would definitely stay again.
