Story

Wonderful display of Rick's work - turned and carved Ancient Kauri including platters, bowls, hollow pots, pens, lidded boxes and much more. Wood turning tuition available and you can also purchase kauri blocks, coffee table slabs etc.



"Working studio and gallery of Master woodturner Rick Taylor - come and visit the gallery with our 40 beautiful New Zealand Ancient Kauri items on display. From functional to art works, bowls, platters, hollow forms, jewellery, tea light candle holders, platters and a range of pens including fountain pens. Wood turning tuition available for 1 day basic beginners. Gallery open most days from 10am."

Very nice owners of the business, extremely knowledgeable about surrounding area and activities. The craftsmanship of all their products are above and beyond amazing quality. If you like wood work it's definitely a place to come and see you wont be dissapointed.

A good visit to this interesting studio and talked to the lovely lady here on things of Kauri wood and crafts. There are crafts here made of kauri dating back to over tens of thousands of years. Love the old workshop room of Rick too, must have many stories inside it.
I loved my visit. The owners were friendly and welcoming. I had a informative conversation with the owner about woodturning. I loved being able to step into his workshop and see where he creates his stunning wood art. There was also stunning art in the room next door. I drove away inspired. I hope to return soon.
Tony and his son Matt have produced some brilliant sculptures in wood. Tony took us around his workshop area and showed us pieces in progress and explained how he decides on what to sculpt from particular pieces of wood. The grain in some of his Kauri pieces was amazing, it was a pleasure to get an insight into his work
This is not an official information centre, it is not an "I" sight centre, do not rely on verbal information given by the owners about accomodation in the area of Dargaville and surrounding places?? Customers need to visit in person individual accomodation businesses themselves to get the correct prices and other infomation. Do not rely on this centre for fair reviews as only selected businesses are voiced and promoted. Please only make payments directly to businesses in the area, as an old system was in place whereby the unofficial infomation centre collected the money first off customers for services given by a third party.accomadation. The Kauri Gallery has beautiful works of art, well done. Tourists/locals BEWARE of asking about accomadation requirements!!!
World famous. Mr Taylor is a master and to watch him work is a gift. Great shop in Dargaville.
