Seeing Tane Mahuta was just a beautiful experience, he is truly a giant & Lord of the forest .... the only downside was the young fella assume a DOC employee tasked with closing the gates at 5.00pm actually closed them approx 4.20pm consequently people turning up after 4.20 never got the chance to see Tane Mahuta ....
Beautiful tree, amazing to just sit and stare at it’s size. It’s a very short walk along a boardwalk which protects the roots of the tree. Earlier in the day you’ll find it less busy. The road to Tane Mahuta is also beautiful, through the forest.
Massive tree as expected. Photos don't do it justice as to how big it is, especially since it's been protected by a fence understandably. Picnic spot opposite where you can see the top of it was a nice surprise, with toilets nearby.
AWESOME SIGHT! Not to be missed. And great to see DOC taking all steps to keep it safe.
A must-see for everyone who loves nature, particularly trees. This 2,500 year old tree is so majestic, it is awe inspiring.
We need more big, old beauties like this one. Definitely worth the time to get there.
New Zealand right of passage...impossible not to be impressed by this ancient giant Kauri tree. Very easy short walk all on wooden walkways. Not a lot of parking space especially for large / long vehicles. But definitely worth a visit.
It really is a very big tree - and it's well worth the effort to go to see it.
