What a pleasant surprise!!nBeautifully fitted out, historical building, with great atmosphere.nFood and staff were also good.nA great place to relax and enjoy a meal.

Just passing through Gore today and wanted to stop somewhere for lunch. Really enjoyed my sticky chicken and half a cider.

Big open restaurant right in the centre of town. Lovely fire which was welcoming on a cold night. Nice ambience and decor.nHate to say it but the food was a bit hit and miss. My friend couldn't eat her salmon risotto as it was more like soup, I love tasty spicey food but my noodles were very strong flavored. The blue cod and steak meals were ok.nSadly I didn't have my phone with me to take photos.

There were no pros. Hygiene low standard. Venison hasn't been available for a long time but still on menu and 2 of us were bitterly disappointed. The prices were higher than average. The broccoli was hard as a rock and drizzled with rancid fat probably from the rubber duck. So chewy we had to ask for steak knives to get through it. No herbs. No spices. Kumara mash watery, flavorless and a lot of it. Plated up in an unattractive, indifferent way. Absolutely the worst meal I've had in a long time.
