Ambiance was great but felt bit crowded. Went with friends and it was a great place to hang out. They had the really amazing drink menu which had wide range of Wine and cocktails, which was really impressive. They had good range of food to as the menu is based on sharing basis. If you are in small groups, would definitely suggest this place. Bookings recommended.
We went for dinner on a Saturday night just before 7pm and were able to order Happy Hour cocktails at $8 each - they were so yum. Food was good too - the fried squid was done really well and really crispy. Salmon was amazing and also the Korean fried chicken was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Stumbled upon this as I was driving past, made the best decision ever to check it out and dine in. What a amazing little hidden gem. Everything was absolutely perfect, from the atmosphere, menus, staff... since I can't give it a 4.8, I will stick with a five as 4 would be so unfair. The cheese cake could be better but it wasn't a deal breaker, the chimichurre could use a stronger punch, but that it's just me. The hour glass has claimed top spot on my New Plymouth go to list of dining experiences. Can't with to go there again, and again... and again!
Despite being packed, Peter, the owner, seated us very comfortably and put two very considerate servers in charge of our experience. Special mention to the young man — we enjoyed the tapas he recommended very much. The young woman who served us clearly knew the extensive drink menu. Highly encourage anyone to savour this stunner.
The food here was equally pretty and tasty. The dishes are creative and we even had a bowl of nuts mixed with grasshoppers which was interesting. The place looks great and we are so relaxed when were meeting in there. The service is excellent because the staff are friendly and all have smiles. The prices are great and there is an extensive list of quality wines available.

Average. Disappointing as this place was recommended for a business dinner. Food was nice but nothing to write home about, bar staff were rude and unpleasant. Pity as we had higher expectations.
We really enjoyed it there last night We went inside, were sat near the bar, the staff were great and for just the briefest of moments...... we believability imagined we were not actually in New Plymouth
Food is good but I think it is a little bit overpriced - 4 squares of Halumi shouldn't really cost more that $10. However the chips in gravy are awesome and the ambiance is fantastic. Great selection of beer and wine. So - all in all - worthy of 4 stars but not suitable if you are on a budget.
