A Hidden Gem in MastertonnMy wife and I ate here last Friday, a cute little corner Asian fusion bistro. A good range of starter, seven in total and nine mains to choose from. We usually prefer an entire meal of starters and skip the mains.nThe Korean fried cauliflower bites was unlike anything I'd ever tasted. It was a smokey dark sticky chocolate cauliflower does that make sense!. Made with Gochujang, mayo finished with cashews and sesame. Vey impressive. There is a photo but it was so delicious I got distracted and only snapped what was left on the plate, but you get the idea.nThe tuna sashimi with wasabi creme fraiche, pickled ginger and lemon dressing was good but nothing out of the ordinary, but still good and refreshing.nThe crispy oraking salmon with asian potatoes and pickled red cabbage and shrimp sambal sauce and finished with coconut crumble was creative and very tasty.nThe venison short loin with date labneh, peanut crumble, blackberries and winter vegetables was rich and heartwarming.nnI would certainly return and try more starters although the sun-fed chicken with pumpkin ravioli with gorgonzola and walnut crumble looked delicious on the other table and desserts looked wonderfully satisfying for any sweet tooth.nThe interior lighting could do with toning down little to be more intimate and I did suggest to the owner to lower the blinds no expense to create a little more intimacy.nnWill be back soon :
This has to be the best restaurant in town, I’d not the wairarapa, simply fantastic food amazing staff. Whether is brunch or dinner do not look past the hood spot, you’ll be blown away. - the lemon nest dessert is to die for..
Second time I’ve been here and had a lovely meal both times and I love the music and atmosphere. Food was delicious too. Anthony was a great host and took a real interest. Thanks
The flavours! Fantastic combinations - a mushroom gnocchi that was distinct from anything I’ve ever tried. Gnocchi strips were like cloud pillows and sauce was intense and rich. Scoffed before could take a photo. Dessert was a visual delight that I was going to eat slowly to relish the tastes … but I’m not sure what happened as it was suddenly disappeared from the plate. Fantastic attentive service and nice relaxed atmosphere.
Stopped in for a quick brunch on our way home. Service was great. And the vege breakfast was so good. One of the best I've had. Full of flavour. A little spicey but so delish!!nHubby had the eggs bene anddd said was quite spicey.
