Excellent Service @ Crab Shack. . Nearly missed out because I didn't have a reservation or a local New Zealand phone number, and the place was fully booked. . After travelling for 12+ hours just to dine here, and be stopped at the door, was incredibly frustrating. Thankfully, staff were willing to accommodate me; I nearly cried for joy. . A big thank you and my deepest appreciation to the staff of Crab Shack Wellington!. . The Shack-Spiced Calamari NZD $17 appetizer features large fresh calamari squid rings, coated in a light all-purpose flour batter, seasoned with salt and pepper. . Has a bouncy chewy texture and mild savoury salty peppery spice flavour, yum. . The Shellfish By The Scoop, Mixed NZD $19 for 500g feature a bucket generously packed with a medley of different shellfish, in your choice of stew. . The Green-Lipped Mussel, juicy and bouncy with mild natural sweet savoury flavour. The Moon Shell Clam, firm and chewy with intense meaty savoury salty flavour. The Diamond Shell Clam, juicy and bouncy with bold salty nutty sweet flavour. . The shellfish, including mussels and clams, were served in my choice of stew; a white wine, garlic, red chili, and cream blend. . The stew was thick and robust, with bright milky floral boozy herbal sweet savoury salty spice flavour, infusing the mussels and clams with good flavour, yet you still taste the natural flavours of the shellfish. Very yummy and enjoyable.
We're pleased to have found this place. We've been on the lookout for a restaurant similar to one of our USA favorites hot n juicy since moving to NZ. We're 2 happy campers. The swimmer crab was delicious and so was the garlic cheese bread dipped in that tomato sauce left over from the crab dip. Mmmm we'll be spreading the word. The vibe was nice and great scenery too. The bonuses was the great service from all staff and good music. You guys are awesome . We'll see y'all again.
Great waterfront setting with equally good food. Cajun catch of the day red snapperwas excellent as were the green mussels and raw fish platter. Reservation is probably needed but we were able to walk in on a Friday night and sit right down. 10 minutes later there was a 30 minute wait.Recommended dishesCajun Catch of the Day
Great seafood options, excellent for entertainment of Asian Clients, recently they even added rice to the menu! Excellent service & high food quality. They dont do bookings so best to be punctual and arrive prior to the busy times if you want a classy table. Thanks CJ
Went in for $1 wings now Thursday, not Wednesday and was very full after ordering ten. I did eat someone else's too but overall very filling and nice! Weren't as spicy as I thought they were be, but sauces made them very tasty. One thing to improve is just the website! It needs an update. According to it, the wings are still on Wednesday and it claims you need to have paid and finished dining before 6pm in order to receive the $1 wings special. Overall a great time! Location adds a lot to the atmosphere and the staff were nice with a good sense of humour.
Hey there Wellington foodies. If you're on the hunt for a tasty and filling meal in Wellington, I have to recommend the Crab Shack on the waterfront. And if you're looking for something extra special, you should try The Shack Stack. My dish was an absolute powerhouse of flavor. Two juicy rosemary garlic sirloin steaks that are cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The spuds are the perfect sidekick to this protein-packed dish. I must give a thumbs up to the presentation - the steaks and mushrooms are stacked on the plate and the spuds are piled up alongside. It looks almost too pretty to eat... almost. The portion size is generous and will leave you feeling satisfied and happy. Overall, I highly recommend checking out the Crab Shack and giving The Shack Stack a try. The food is amazing, the location is nice, and the interior and decor is something unique.
Have been here before but a long time ago. Was really good to have afternoon brunch with my family and the mussel deal was great! Definitely recommend and will return again.Food: 5/5
Was here for casual Brunch, and had a wonderful time there. The waiters were friendly and food was fantastic and delicious. Definitely recommend the fish and chips here. Coffee here was allright.
Such a cool place! Love the decor and ambience. Staff were helpful and cleared a table that had just been vacated for us. We 4 of us ordered: The Cajun Catch of the Day - quite mild, expected something with a bit of heat. Instead just a sprinkle of Cajun seasoning. But the tuna was cooked perfectly, coleslaw tasty, and the potatoes delicious. The vege fritters - these were tasty and a good sized meal. The jalapeño creme freiche, it would have been nice to have the option to swap this out for something else. Shack Fish Pie - delicious! The Big Wet Willy - this was the most disappointing. The fish IN the burger was delicious as were the chips. However, the rest was below average and went uneaten. The cheese was weird and plastic-like, the tartare sauce was absorbed into the bun rather than being on the fish. The bun was too hard. The maitre d agreed to give a discount on this dish. But overall we loved this restaurant and would definitely be back!
Busy place. They don't book in advance but the manager was very nice and texted us 40min later with a table available. The waitress- an young lady - was very sweet and helpful. Food is fine, not very pricey...nothing exceptional. Place looks a bit tired. Apart from that everything was good. Recommended.Food: 4/5
