If there were more stars I would definitely give them. I had a mocha and was indeed one of the best I’ve ever had and I am a coffee lover. The staff was extremely lovely. My friends didn’t exaggerate when they’ve said it’s the best coffee in Wanaka and I should definitely go! I recommend it from the bottom of my heart! Definitely see you again on my next visit to Wanaka!
The Coffee Shack is perfectly located by the park and waterfront. The coffee and espresso are milder in taste - lower bitterness, lower acidity, and very low sourness. Surprisingly they offered drip coffee, which I enjoyed a cup of. Some little pastries were available too but if you need something more filling there is a crepe stall neighboring the Shack. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Sit there outside only or take-away - you won’t be disappointed!

Best coffee we’ve had in NZ. Been making a detour to come here every morning during our stay in Wanaka!
The first day the coffee was good and the staff friendly enough. On the second day we got the proper Coffee Shack experience: outstandingly made coffee with the attention to detail and quirky warmth in the service. On the second day their coffee was equal to the best in Sydney or Melbourne.
Stopped here enroute to Lake Tekapo. Coffee was good. We paired it with crepes from the shop next to it.
Highly recommended. Very small but cosy café, very friendly staff und probably the most fluffy & tasty Gingerbread you've ever had. Filter coffee is available here too hard to get here in NZ.Food: 5/5
New Zealand is full of little joys. This little hidden gem is a must while near Wanaka ! To be honest, I only went there as I liked the coffee shop style and didn’t expect to get a really fine coffee! A place like that in a small town and still serving an epic coffee that I will remember for long ! And sitting on the pavement is a joy it self. Thank you for providing such a quality coffee..
The Coffee Shack is part of an interesting little food truck scene on Brownston Street in the town centre of Wanaka. It is situated just next to the Charlie Brown Crepes at the Dungarvon Street intersection. Opening hours are 6.30am to 2pm on Monday to Friday closed on weekends. I stopped here early one morning recently and enjoyed a Long Black NZ$3.5. The drink was well made and tasted fine - what I expected of a Long Black coffee. I liked the shack arrangement and decor. It was a nice atmosphere to stop and enjoy a coffee. Otherwise, just take-away to have while browsing shops in the Town Centre or to perhaps enjoy by the lake. In the end, this seemed like a good local business worth supporting during visits to Wanaka.
