The Chalet Lake Tekapo NZ

I had an amazing stay at The Chalet in September. Zita and Walter were so very welcoming, friendly and lovely. They upgraded me to a Lakeview room - so amazing. The room was large and airy, amazing views, clean and warm. Everything I could have wanted was there and being able to use the laundry was great. Close to the town centre and amazing views of the night sky straight from the door. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend to others. Thank you for a lovely relaxing stay Zita and Walter.

The Chalet is amazing. The view from the unit was spectacular. The unit was very clean and homey. Owners Walter and Zita are fantastic. Very friendly and made us feel right at home. I’ll definitely be staying here when we come back to Lake Tekapo.

Absolutely wonderful accommodation. The location is second to none, the view is breathtaking, and the hosts are most warm and helpful. Recommend without hesitation to anyone coming to Tekapo. Tip: get the lake view rooms!Rooms: 5/5

We had a wonderful time staying in this chalet. I was worried about the the heater if it was sufficient considering it was winter and temperature was below freezing. Zita wrote to me to assure me that the room comes with floor heating. In addition she also provided a few heaters if we need. The view right outside, overlooking the Lake Tekapo was simply stunning. When the night fell, the Milky Way was right on top of us. The famous church was just about 100m away. Zita and Walter have been the most friendly and helpful host I have ever seen. I will highly recommend this place to anyone.

Can't recommend this place enough; my only regret is that I couldn't spend more time there! They unexpectedly upgraded us to a Lakeview studio which had everything you would need for a comfortable holiday including cold milk in the fridge plus an amazing view of the lake. The Gardens around the area are just as impressive and it is only a short walk from the church and shops. They even gave us some food recommendations that were spot on. This is more than I usually splurge on accommodation, but it was definitely somewhere I look forward to coming back to now!

Walter and his wife are awesome hosts! They gave us great advise for our stay in NZ and the cottage we stayed at was just a dream.. So much privacy, perfect view of the lake and mountains and everything was just very clean and comfy.

One of the greatest stay I had during my visit to New Zealand. The room is cosy, the laundry was very convenient and the location is great: in front of the lake and walking distance to the chapel and the restaurant nearby. Will come back again !! Probably will choose the larger front room next time. ~ Highly recommended.

4.5! March 2017 Lovely, clean and quiet. It's only a ten minute walk to the attractions like The Church of The Good Shepherd and the bronzed dog. Even though our room didn't have a lake view, the lake is only a couple of minutes away. We had the garden view. October 2017 We had another fabulous time. We stayed at Henkel Hut for three nights and the view was amazing! The location of the hut was very private and quiet. We loved it! Thank you Zita and Walter for another fantastic stay! The Chalet is definitely a hidden gem in Lake Tekapo. Check out the photos I posted on Google map.
