The Book Exchange

A really lovely second hand bookstore with a large literature collection. I found english titles here that arent carried in the usual Dutch bookstores. The 2 staff members were really lovely and I loved the 'blind book' setup they had. Each book was wrapped beautifully and the handwritten descriptions were very cute. I also brought in a few books to trade in for store credit. The pricing felt quite arbitrary - I wonder if theres a system for pricing the books/quality of books that we bring in? Nonetheless, I was just happy to use my store credits to get some new reads. Will be back soon!

A cute, larger than you'd expect, second hand book store. Very friendly employees who speak Dutch and English. Broad range of books and prices. I loved the concept of buying wrapped books with a little sneak peak on the front: it's like buying a surprise!

I go here every now and then and always leave with one or two books. It’s such a cute and cozy place to walk around and look at all the books. There is no place in Amsterdam more quiet and calm than this store!

I loved this place , you can find all the sort of genres there and it's very well managed. Pricing : it's not as cheap as I was expecting but some books you can get in 5 euros in a good condition. The owner is really nice, good sense of humor.

Wonderful find! Will definitely drop by if I visit Amsterdam again. Large selection of books, lots of nice editions too, at reasonable prices. Don't forget to take into consideration the weight of your purchases when planning your transportation to this lovely little shop!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. I've bought my new favourite book there for only 3 euros. The selection is huge from all genres. There are also books in German and French apart from English. On the more expensive side there are some beautiful editions. There are also packed surprise books with only a couple descriptions.

Amazing shop, nice prices and books, they have some wear and tear as is expected but not as much as I usually see in second hand book shops. Furthermore is everything pretty organised and there is a great atmosphere! I will most definitely return and recommend this great cozy shop to my fellow book loving friends!!

Amazing place for dropping off your own old English books for store credit and getting your hands on some used English books for a fair price. Love the atmosphere in the shop, this is truly a shop for book lovers. The quirky and funny shopkeeper is super charming and happy to help with your questions. A true Amsterdam gem.

Cute place but the owner is impolite. Not asking for hospitality but show manners. I didn’t feel welcomed. A bit disappointed. *updates: What’s happening I’m not the one who asked you this question. I’m here to give my honest review and you are the one judging everything and everybody. All I want is don’t ignore your guests when we say “thank you”.
