A fantastic hotel! The room we stayed in was spacious, clean and decorated beautifully and even had a top storey living area which had an amazing view. The restaurant area was gorgeous and the breakfast/dinner we had was fantastic using local produce. The service was great and the team were really helpful in helping us with recommendations. You can also rent a little Suzuki for the day to go and explore the island with a picnic which was a great idea. A really lovely hotel - can’t wait to come back!
The Boatshed is an absolute gem - a hidden boathut paradise overlooking Little Oneroa Bay that instantly makes you slow down and breathe.nnOur Boatshed room was idyllic. The quality of the furnishings are exceptional, and it was the little thoughtful details that truly set it apart: a beach bag complete with personalised bucket hats, blue striped towels, SPF, port waiting for the evening, and chef-made biscuits so delicious we couldn’t resist taking them home with us to the UK.nnWe loved having our own little veranda, opening the shutters onto a shingle area where we could place our deckchairs. It made us reminisce about beach holidays with family - returning from the sea to a beach hut – nostalgic yet effortlessly luxurious.nnThe service cannot be faulted. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Jonathan, our suitcases immediately whisked away, and checked in with the most beautiful coconut cake, poached pear, and crème fraîche. Every interaction felt genuinely caring and relaxed.nnBreakfast was the best we experienced in our three weeks travelling around New Zealand. Ripe fresh fruit, home-baked bread, homemade cereals, and exceptional warm dishes: folded eggs with balsamic tomatoes unbelievably good, corn fritters with poached eggs and a light dill and lemon sauce that elevated them far beyond the usual NZ brunch, and crêpes with poached pears. To finish, there were sweet treats like orange and almond cake or coconut and blueberry slice. Simple cooking done exquisitely, delicately, and beautifully presented.nnThis place truly feels like a home from home - - but with luxury and every need thoughtfully catered for. You instantly relax. We couldn’t be more grateful to Jonathan and his wonderful team for creating somewhere so special. We will be dreaming of our return.
We stayed with our two young kids in the Owner’s Cottage late December, and it was wonderful. The space is beautiful and very thoughtfully designed, with several cozy nooks and fireplaces, and a full self-service kitchen. They always managed to come clean when we were away—a feat that most hotels don’t get right, and feels like magic when done like this.nnBreakfast is perfect—a combo of buffet and two rotating cooked options, one sweet and one savory, prepared right nearby as if you were in your own home.nnWe had one dinner there as well, which was excellent, but our kids don’t have the patience for a multi-course meal, so we only did it once.nnWhen we had any issues, Jonathan and the staff were quick to act. He even offered to meet us at the ferry to help with our bags even though we rented a car, just to make our lives easier.
This was perfect for our honeymoon! The accommodations were cozy and homey, service was excellent - they even picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry. Great breakfast, and it was walking distance to the beach! Would highly recommend.
I received a voucher to come here from my employer … I was absolutely blown away with the VIP treatment, we stayed in one of the boatsheds, the rooms were well appointed with great views, very comfortable bed with all the cool little extras. Breakfast was next level with those breathtaking views & all our extra requests weren’t a hassle for the friendly staff. Thanks team!
