We had dinner at Thatcher & Small on Easter Sunday and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We’d made a reservation ahead of time highly recommend doing so – it’s a popular spot! and everything was smooth and well-organised when we arrived.nnThe menu is wide-ranging with something for every appetite – from smaller bites to hearty mains – and the drinks list was just as impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we were well looked after without ever rushing us. Our food came out in great time, and the portions were generous too. They gave us just the right amount of time between courses, which made for a really relaxed and enjoyable evening.nnThe garlic bread was absolutely delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly – both are must-tries! There’s also a fully heated outdoor area which makes it a great option for larger groups no matter the weather.nnAll in all, a great spot for a special meal out – we’d definitely visit again!
Beef wellington was a good menu. However at $40, I felt that price point was a bit too high. The beef wellington was cooked to perfection but the size of protein was a bit too small. Being newer, it had slightly quieter atmosphere which was great. The space between the table was a bit too narrow.
The young service team at Thatcher & Small was absolutely outstanding – attentive, quick, helpful, and incredibly friendly. As a guest, we felt genuinely well taken care of. The restaurant has a great location and is stylishly decorated, offering both indoor and outdoor seating options.nnThe food was delicious, though we felt the vegetables on the flatbread could have been a bit more generous. We opted for a selection of starters to share, giving us the chance to try as many dishes as possible. For two people, we’d recommend ordering at least four starters to feel truly satisfied.nnThe squid, unfortunately, was slightly overcooked and therefore quite tough. While the flavor was good, the texture could definitely be improved.nnThe highlight of the evening was the dessert. The macadamia cookie with white chocolate was absolutely divine and is a must-try!nnThank you for such a wonderful experience – we highly recommend this restaurant!
Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Period. Great service, fast, and delicious food. I went for the Brekkie and it was so yummy. Perfect to get all of the energy for a hike at the Fox Glacier!
Gluten Free Alert!!! Code red!!! Thatcher & Small has a huge selection of gluten free desserts and pastries. This spot is new and comfortable and has both indoor and outdoor seating. Order at the counter and they bring everything to you. We were only there twice and the second time we came in they remembered our names and were joking with us like regulars!nnWe had a lemon meringue, Carmel Brownie, orange almond cake, and a chocolate and raspberry ice cream thing ... You could not even tell they were gluten free, and all were made in house. To top it off the cappuccino was amazing!
