Story

You will find the club at the Northern end of the town on the corner of Pollen and Cochrane Streets.

What once used to be the Cornwall Arms Hotel, one of the 90 odd hotels that serviced the community during the gold rush days and beyond, this graceful old building is now the home of the Thames Workingmens Club, often referred to as the “workies”.

You will find a great bunch of people inside, when you visit on your way around the Pacific Gem, the Coromandel Peninsula.

Our restaurant is open from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Tues, Thurs, Fri and Sat nights and is also available for group bookings and functions at other times by arrangement. Please contact the Club manager for further details.

Hidden gem...a warm welcome by 2 of the staff and signed in promptly as non member being from the UK. Its a WMC so isn't glamorous but is spotlessly clean as are the facilities. The chaps take great pride, keep a good cellar, and went out way to make me feel welcome ..exceptional value too. Long may places like this prevail and give them support as owned by the members. also 2 top pool tables
A very welcoming and fun place to visit. The meals we got were great and the prices of the drinks were very affordable. People were friendly and the atmosphere was lively.

If it's working men's club then why was a strong independent woman doing the gardening?
It was just awesome music was awesome and food was awesome.
The food was absolutely delicious. There could be better advertising that the place is open such as signs being outside inviting people in for a meal or a drink or both. We would never have known it was there or open if our hosts hadn't taken us there.
A welcoming little club. The food is unexpectedly good and prices are very reasonable. Pleasant staff and a friendly place to go if you're an RSA member or hold an affiliated club membership.
Cafe/restaurant is not in the main street of Thames but worth the visit. Great friendly staff excellent food good coffee I shared a Tuna melt and pork belly roll both came with salad Both excellent but my favorite Tuna melt. Cabinet food all cooked bu the cafe menu had a lot if great choices. Worth a visit
Lovely atmosphere, very polite Staff, great bowls of chips with yummy Aioli & tomato sauce. Plenty of parking. A great place to celebrate the passing of our dearly loved Uncle.
Good food, safe friendly place to enjoy company and a drink. Add in pool tables, darts and gaming machines, an easy way to while away some spare time.
