Nice laid back place to watch racing, however they need to get with the times and ban smoking from the grandstands. Sitting in the grandstand next thing covered in smoke from a guy smoking nearby, not good!
Had a fun day at the races here. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Seats outside are pretty basic and the food/drink selection is rather limited but no major problems and recommend a visit
Had a great day at the races in fantastic company. Super, friendly helpful staff too.
Wanting to Thank Ashleigh and the team, such a delight to deal with. I recently booked the Kentucky Lounge for my Daughters 21st Birthday. The venue exceeded my expectations. Once our decorations were in place it was amazing. Clean and tidy, the security and Catering staff from Kerr and Ladbrook truly brought the whole night together. I most certainly recommend this venue for any spectacular event. Ngā mihi. Pania Rameka.
Had a lovely day at the races, staff were friendly and excellent service unfortunately after lunch I was starving! It looked as though they had not catered for the number of people expected. Some tips - heated plates, more choices, quantity of food greatly increased. For a main at a buffet I like to dish up my main meal not have it dished out to me, encourage 2nds! One dessert the size of a mouthful however nicely presented does not cut it, nor does one minute sausage roll. They food itself was great but certainly will not be coming back for lunch anytime soon!
Great day at the Te Rapa races, well organized day
Great place for a venue. But if parking overnight I feeling was a bit expensive at $15 for one person for a motorhome with no power or water or anything but it was a very convient place to park and the venue was excellent very clean and spacious. Nice place also short walk to some shops so very convenient.
The host were very good, understanding the needs of the clients made everything fantastic
This gold cup was the worst I have ever been to. I couldn’t see or hear anything and I got a good spot as was there early. The party music thumping across the grandstand was awful to listen to and know one could hear results from the speakers. Fire alarms went off twice and we couldn’t hear the alarms which I feel is a massive safety hazard, TAB couldn’t hear our group placing bets and kept mucking them up. One small bar and one small tote area is not enough for the GA. The security and hospitality staff were rude and inconsistent, I was made to tip out water on entry by security that was meant for my child yet saw others walk in without being checked and later saw them consuming full chilli bins of alcohol they had snuck in. I would also love to know why we got ID’d coming in, then bag checked, then the third set of security gave us drinking bands little red bands on wrist but yet we’re still ID’d every time we purchased a drink what is the point in the band?? What happened to the place??
Ok so i have been coming here since i was a kid, so i may be bias. I love the place, the racing surface is in the top 3 in NZ, but the facilities are old and outdated. Its almost identical in the grandstand when i first went in the late 70's with it still today having the same 70's decor. The only enhancements done are for the members area which only a handful of people can go to. Food is utterly expensive as is the alcohol, the food is of average quality. On a waikato cup day they ran out of beer mid-meeting, that same day i was lucky enough to be an owner of a winner at this meeting but had to celebrate with an $8 warm stubby of beer so all of us owners left straight after which i thought was poor but we had no choice. Again i can say the racing surface is fantastic but facilities and prices are expensive so eat up before you go
