
This unique place started as one mans mission which developed into a full scale, working Marae. A registered gazetted Maori reservation since 1983.
Te Poho O Tangi Ianui Marae is a place that all walks of life are more then welcomed. Founders and creators Baden and Paula Batt were two people that had natural arts and craft talents that they used to build this special place for everyone to come see and enjoy.
Turned into a Maori land reserve back in the 80s to protect and preserve for future generations. Over the year this place has been used for educational puposes by developing peoples understanding of Maori arts and crafts, with its main focus on the unity of the community.
