Very interesting place to visit. Total different experience if you like to try. Also if you like history. Otherwise, this prison is very small. Also it cost $20 per adult for admission. I personally would say $10 - $15 is better.
Great learning experience for the whole family. Some great facts and stories, can't believe some of things that happened here.
One of the best experience here in NZ like museum we had a historical tour and after we could take pictures around the building. Sad history... but such an interesting.
A must do especially the ghost tour. Such a great and creepy part of New Zealand history.
Very interesting to take a look through the oldest prison in New Zealand. No longer functions as a prison. 90 minute historical or ghost optioned audio self tours available at a cost of $20. Not somewhere I would have wanted to stay, but that had been an option when it was a backpackers.
It's good to see the oldest prison but it's not worth what they charge for as the current décor is basically modified and is not the same stuff from the prisoners on their "historical tour". It's fine where you only want to see the walls and rooms.
Just did the earn your stripes identical escape rooms with our group of 12. Thank you to the the lovely napier prison staff especially to our guard host. We all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. It was definitely challenging but we made it out in the last minute. Highly recommend.
Depends on your choice. Site is not very attractive. You can hear the history on a walky talky they offer you. If you like hearing about history rather than visiting an interesting old historic site than you should visit the place.
