It's not a bad place at all. There is a big communal kitchen and lounge, but we had a private bathroom and double bedroom which shared a small kitchen and lounge with 2 other bedrooms, plus ours. It was perfect for the price $148 NZD per night- April 2026, car parking plentiful and free, overflow into street if needed and still free.nClean and tidy, oldish, but tidy, bathroom was definitely new! Plenty warm, with wall heaters in bedroom and common areas. Free WiFi also. Would recommend for those on a budget, and try something different
We loved our stay. The rooms were spotlessly clean and nicely decorated, a very comfortable bed and a nice view of the lake. The shared kitchen was also very clean and well organised.nnWe stayed in a double room with lake view.
Staying at this hostel was truly one of the highlights of my trip. The moment you arrive, you feel welcomed and relaxed.nnThe common areas are cozy and perfect for meeting other travelers, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a view. The kitchen is incredibly well equipped, making it easy to cook after long days of hikes. And the beds… Super comfortable, warm, and exactly what you need in Fiordland.nThank you, guys!
Great spot to stay in Te Anau! We originally booked a glamping tent but when we arrived they had a cancellation for one of their king rooms so we upgraded. Room was cute and very clean! Front desk staff was helpful at check in. We didn't utilize any of the facilities or common spaces as we only stayed for a quick overnight en route to Milford. As the name indicates, it's right on the lake which was great for a stroll along the lake path. Bonus: we met two friendly cats one greeted us in the parking lot before making it to our room, and the other bid us farewell the next morning who happily accepted head scratches :
I stayed in a Double Share room. Although the building felt a bit older, it was kept very clean and tidy. The room even included a handy kitchenette, which was a nice touch.nThe staff were also very friendly. There is a self-service laundry on-site, and they offer luggage storage if you arrive before check-in time, which was very helpful.
