"Two Style Dining: Sushi train, ramen and bentos for LUNCH and Sake Bar Izakaya sharing style authentic Japanese dishes with some original pieces for DINNER. Sushi Ninja is a family owned and operated by hosts Ken Yamagata, Japan and Sophie Japanese Kiwi and have been in operation since 2007. Owners originally came to Taranaki from Auckland in food truck during the 2003 the Hollywood's The Last Samurai movie filming here in the region, fell in love with the place and moved here permanently and opened Sushi Ninja. They love to showcase their "Little Japan's" hospitality and cuisine to locals and visitors alike. Bookings are strongly recommended to avoid disappoint especially as they are short staffed. The food was absolutely amazing! My favourite was definitely the Aburi Teriyaki Eel and to finish, the Banana Tempura was so tasty. Fast service and friendly staff! Definitely a favourite in New Plymouth:
Nice place with great atmosphere. The foods were all delicious. I just expected they could have more options on the menu.
A bit overpriced but the rainbow roll and karaage chicken were delicious. We preferred Snug around the corner for dinner and cocktails but the sushi train here could be a good pick for lunch.
Found this place while walking down the street. Go in and try it. The food was amazing. The service was exceptional from the family run team. Try the Supreme Teriyaki Roll it was so good that I had to have a second.
We went there for dinner and order a teppan yakisoba, we feel taste too salty. We told the waiter, they said that is normal but if we can't afford it, they can add on some noodle to make it better, we think is OK, but after 1 minute, a lady come back and tell us the additional noodle have to charge extra...... What the F, this is so bad experience to me. I am not recommend, and we will not go back again.
It is such delight to have a sushi train here in New Plymouth. I miss Japan so much and Sushi Ninja’s sushi train and ramen are somehow nostalgic. Looking forward to some improvements on the pork tonkatsu on the ramen though deeper flavor and more char.
A busy little place, but the booths made you feel like you were dining intimately. Food was amazing, service was sublime. Will definitely return.
I ordered delivery, and it was appalling. It’s almost like they think that if you are not eating in then they don’t need to give you a decent meal. I had the Nanban Chicken Don and it was basically plain rice with plain egg battered chicken. Not an ounce of flavour. The sushi was ok.
Fresh fish and passionate restaurant owners. Ordering process was quick and easy. The fish was delicious and we were pretty full from the meal.
Absolutely delicious. I wish I'd come here my 1st night in New Plymouth rather than my last because I'd have come several times!
